Kneaded from ashes, the black loaf is the last offering before the girl is cast into the forest - bitter bread born of cruelty, carrying within it the silence of abandonment. In the tale of The Golden Girl, it marks the threshold between the warmth of belonging and the darkness of the unknown. And so, what was made from the remains of fire becomes the beginning of a journey through the shadows, where the lost and forsaken may discover the hidden gold within themselves. by @theserpentcircle

The W2 Store @w2_store has recently turned into a Thracian burial ground. Whilst browsing @commedesgarcons @noproblemo and other male clothing, you might find female armoury from the future or perhaps the near present. The armoury fits like a glove and grows out of its original body shell into a modular and rather defensive extension, fertile with golden water and pure Bulgarian rose oil. My collab with @theserpentcircle reinterprets funerary symbolism, personal adornment and defensive armour to imagine the ritual burial of a contemporary, or perhaps future Thracian woman through a dystopian and surrealist lens.

The work emerged after Jonny’s @can.jc invite to present work in the male clothing store and I wondered how I could insert the female presence/body in this explicitly male space where the masculine aesthetic gets projected and focused on, sometimes through the lens of female desire. I felt that Slava’s work interprets this enquiry in such a brilliant way. And so our collab began with journeys in the Rose Valley, her birthplace, we picked roses in the early mornings in May and visited many many tombs, some UNESCO protected due to the spectacular amount of archeological remains mostly found by the outstanding archeologist Georgi Kitov and we thought about this other predominantly male space … the tomb … exquisite burial sights celebrating a royal man’s afterlife via armoury, symbolical jewellery, swords, the speculative belongings of one’s afterlife … and we thought … where are the notable women’s tombs and what She would’ve brought with her back then? And so we made the project …

OPENING HOURS
Saturday, August 29, 2026: 14:00 – 20:00
Sunday, August 30, 2026: 14:00 – 20:00

« Tout doit disparaître » brings together works by Elvire Ménétrier, Veronika Desova, and Slava George around two products — soap and rose oil— rooted in ancestral forms of craftsmanship that are now undergoing widespread industrialization. Emerging from artisanal traditions deeply embedded in their respective territories — Marseille’s soap- making tradition and Bulgaria’s Valley of Roses — these materials serve as starting points for a reflection on the relationships between the body, industry, and material memory.

So what is it that has to disappear? The body, the old body that is, for it to appear a new body, a renewed body, the body of the past, that undergoes metamorphosis.

Emerging from artisanal traditions deeply embedded in their respective territories — Marseille’s soap-making tradition and Bulgaria’s Valley of Roses — these materials serve as starting points for a reflection on the relationships between the body, industry, and material memory.

Beyond industry, the show weaves a web of mythological connections—from the legend of Athena’s birth from Zeus's head in the works of Elvire Ménétrier to artifacts found in Thracian tombs in Bulgaria that inspired Desova&George. The works inhabit their own temporality, in which archaic mythological imagery is interwoven with futuristic narrative, creating a complex vision of emancipation via technology, grounded in deep historicity.

A(R)mour is a duo show by the artists Veronika Desova and Slava George and consists of series of mixed metal and glass sculptures which engage with the ancient Thracian heritage of Bulgaria, drawing on artefacts excavated from sacred sites throughout the Rose Valley. The works reinterpret funerary symbolism, personal adornment and defensive armour to imagine the ritual burial of a contemporary, or perhaps future, Thracian woman through a dystopian and surrealist lens.

Veronika Desova is an architect, educator and conceptual artist currently based between New York, US and Sofia, Bulgaria. She works with ready-made architectural fragments, industrial design techniques, textiles, photography and performance to explore the phenomenological relationship between architecture and the female body. Across media, her work engages with texture, temporality and the ephemeral qualities of material and body, offering spaces for reflection on the fragile, mutable and interconnected nature of the environments we inhabit.

Slava George is a Sofia and Mexico City based multidisciplinary artist who works with various media - installation art, sculpture, performance, video, photography and conceptual fashion design. Her artistic position is deeply connected to the role of women and the feminine as a social construct. In her artistic research, she seeks the connections between social phenomena such as alchemy, myths and rituals, and specifically, how they are intertwined within the collective subconscious and the human condition.

Cast fragments of both artists’ bodies, rendered in metal and glass, are combined with sealed vessels containing rose oil and gold-infused water.

[ART-O-RAMA 2026: SELECTED GALLERIES]

We are thrilled to announce that Spiaggia Libera from
Marseille and Punta Gallery from Sofia will be joining us for this year's edition, presenting the artists Veronika Desova, Slava George and Elvire Ménétrier.

"Through distinct formal and conceptual approaches, the three artists share a common attention to systems of representation and the collective imaginaries that structure our perceptions. The dialogue between the three artists brings forth a space of resonance where
symbolic modes of narration, archaic imaginaries, and contemporary questioning intertwine.

Between body, myth, and architecture, the
exhibition proposes to explore the tensions that run through our systems of belief and the forms — visual, social, or spatial — that embody them."
