Thank you to both the Smithsonian and the Dakota for having us and giving us the opportunity to share our music with your communities. To everyone who came out, sang along, and showed us love—THANK YOU! You helped make this weekend unforgettable! 🙌🏾

What an unforgettable and historic night! 🎶✨

Sounds of Blackness extends our heartfelt thanks to the legendary Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis for inviting us to perform on the Grandstand stage at the Minnesota State Fair! We were truly elated and honored to be part of such a special moment in Minnesota music history.

Shout-out to all the incredible artists who filled the building and performed the timeless hits created by Jam & Lewis. It was also wonderful to reunite with our beloved former lead singer, the incomparable Ann Nesby!

@yolandaadams, @thesoundsofblackness, and @annnesby are joining Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis on stage for HOMECOMING at the Minnesota State Fair on Saturday, August 29th, and this story tells you why this night is going to hit so deep.

@iamalexisrogers asked Jimmy and Terry a beautiful question any Jam and Lewis fan would want to know the answer to:

Of the thousands of songs they’ve written and produced, what’s the ONE that stays with them?

Jimmy went straight to “Optimistic” by Sounds Of Blackness.

Terry went straight to “Open My Heart” by Yolanda Adams.

And when you hear their analogy of music being the thread that brings us together, it all makes sense.

Three hours of global hits made RIGHT HERE IN MINNESOTA, performed by the artists whose voices turned those records into memories we’ve carried for decades.

Yolanda, Sounds of Blackness, and Ann Nesby aren't the only stars joining the Jam and Lewis' "Made in Minnesota" concert.

@officialbellbivdevoe, @themorrisday & @iamjeromebenton of The Time, @stokleyofficial , @forcemds , @iamchantemoore, Shanice Wilson, @realrubenstuddard, Jordan Knight, and some surprises are going to keep the crowd grooving.

HOMECOMING: A Celebration of the Minneapolis Sound
Saturday, August 29
