There’s something about the weight of adolescence, the discovery of our inner gem. In all the light and all the dark, dangerously threatening to consume us.

Inhabiting a body and mind we barely get a glimpse of understanding. Thrusting us into the depths of malaise, corruption unto illness…but also the miracles of light that guide us back to ourselves and each other.

In "𝑭𝒊𝒓𝒆𝒇𝒍𝒚" 𓆤 we wrote from a shared dream, then briefly lived in it with an incredibly supportive and dreamy crew of creatives. As storytellers, this is the biggest blessing we could ask for. And in filming in the spaces of our childhoods, we became visitors in each other’s memories.

Here’s to learning how to live ~ time and time again 🩵

@thesteban is a Mexican-Canadian artist based in Scarborough whose work explores the Gothic, drawing from spiritual and folkloric traditions to delve into the darker, often unseen parts of ourselves.

Through painting, writing, and filmmaking, Esteban uses his work to bring these hidden experiences into the light, creating space for deeper understanding, connection, and healing.

His practice also extends beyond his own work. Esteban is passionate about community storytelling and mentorship, supporting youth as they explore their own creativity and healing journeys.

We’re excited to screen Esteban’s film Hemorrhage at CinéQ during Block 2 on Sunday, Aug 23rd at @jayucanada

✨️estas semillitas viajan de nuevo por el viento🍃

𝑺𝒆𝒎𝒊𝒍𝒍𝒂𝒔 | Seeds 🌱 has been selected for this year’s edition of Vancouver Latin American Film Festival! Our film will be featured in their Emerging Experimental programme.

Sept 16 | The Cinematheque | Vancouver | BC

Gracias for helping us migrate this film like we have across the Americas. Reminding each other of our uprooted journeys, and all that connects us amidst imagined distances.

To utter a word with an open heart, is to welcome in its energy and meaning. 𝘏𝘢𝘶𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨, in whatever form that manifests in our lives, is one that deeply moved me from this story. Sometimes in ways that weren’t most pleasant.

From equipment malfunctions, to feeling presences at odd times & places, then experiencing sleep paralysis for the first time…it brought to light new kinds of dark in 𝘊𝘶𝘳𝘴𝘦𝘴.

Thank you Lucien for trusting us to bring your family’s story to life through this documentary, even if in a darkened snapshot in your father’s wake. From his imprint and photography he left behind, we felt a poetry and truth that brought about many things in us.

In (re)discovering family history, we not only peek past into our ancestral roots, but deeper within, into the murmur of a familiar melody. Through this magic process with a small and mighty team, we present "夜遊記 | 𝘙𝘦𝘮𝘦𝘮𝘣𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘕𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘞𝘩𝘪𝘴𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘴".

We can never truly capture time passing by, rather merely tell its story.

Our textile & film installation “𝐓𝐞𝐦𝐩𝐮𝐬 𝐅𝐮𝐠𝐢𝐭”🍂 will be representing International World Textile Art as guest artist at @artpalmbeachfair and @laartshow ‘s The Biennials and Art Institutions in the Contemporary Art Ecosystem (DIVERSEartPB) this Jan 28 to Feb 4.

It is an honour to be featured amongst the artists, and to share this presentation that invites presence and reflection in the passing seasons ~ amidst climate change and the impermanence of the fabrics that bind us all.

Music: Dimitar Pentchev (in memoriam)

Feeling so grateful and blessed for another beautiful Rendezvous with Madness season 🎞 From seeing this year's incredible "If You Ask Me” mentees’ visions come to life, to screening our doc “𝑺𝒆𝒎𝒊𝒍𝒍𝒂𝒔 | Seeds”🌱, Workman Arts continues to show what a special place it is for artists to express their mental health and/or addiction experiences. And to get to do it in such an inclusive and safe space goes a long way with everyone that helped uphold that.

Our mentees’ films showed such vulnerability and courage in pouring their hearts out on the screen, and we are all the better for it. A shining example in contributing to conversations fighting many of these stigmas. They wielded it with such mindfulness and grace ✨️

If you missed a chance to watch any of the films at the in-person screenings, Rendezvous With Madness @workmanartsto is screening online until Nov 15th (link in their bio)!

Special thanks to our active listener Fabian who was always there for everyone, and Scott @cineparlour + Aysia's @aysiatse leadership for making this all happen.
