He came in as a severely underweight stray with worms and GI issues. 😨He’s finally gaining weight, but shelter life is breaking his spirit. 😔

He’s so stressed he’s eating his blankets and now must wear a hard cone 24/7. 😢

Yet this boy is the sweetest gentleman. He takes treats so gently, knows how to sit, and would much rather lay in the sunshine getting head scratches than go on long walks. ☀️🐾

Vincent has likely had a hard life. He deserves to finally feel safe, loved, and HOME. ❤️

Jackie came in as an owner surrender way back in February this year. The sweet girl was all cuddles and love to our staff and volunteers - she joined our Broward Buddies program and was a star!

As time went on, Jackie became increasingly stressed being kenneled to the point even a more private room was not helping to manage her anxiety. Thankfully, a truly heroic foster came forward and has been working with Jackie and trying to find her a home, but so far she hasn’t found any takers…

While out in foster, though, she has developed some stranger danger and acts defensively around her foster mom. She would truly benefit from an understanding and experienced transfer partner to show her the world ain’t so scary.

Jackie is a fun-loving girl who enjoys staying busy, playing, and exploring. She’s also treat-motivated, which makes learning new things a little easier (especially when snacks are involved!😉). The good news is that Jackie is already crate-trained and potty-trained, so she has a great head start on settling into her new home!

Jackie would thrive with a family who enjoys an active lifestyle and can give her plenty of exercise, playtime, and attention. She has so much personality and potential, and she deserves a family who will love her, help her continue to grow, and make her part of their world.

Meet BOSS A2479700 the HAPPIEST boy 💘 @browardbuddies #rescuedog #adoptdontshop #browardcountyanimalcare #shelterdog #browardcounty

Boss is a 2-year-old plout Hound mix with a constantly wagging tail and the happiest personality. 🐾❤️

You would never guess that he was brought to @browardcountyanimalcare after being abandoned in a wire cage for TWO WEEKS in 90° heat with no food or water. 💔

I don’t think Boss has ever lived in a home, so he has a little learning to do — but he caught on SO quickly!

Once we got him out of the shelter, we saw a completely different dog. ❤️

He was great with my daughter, took treats gently, didn’t beg for food (after he was well fed) 😋 walked beautifully on leash after getting some energy out, and happily met my crazy Chihuahuas through the fence with his tail wagging.

And once he settled in? He was SO chill. He just wanted to be right by our side — a Velcro dog. 🥹💞

Please don’t let his kennel behavior fool you. Shelter stress can make dogs act completely different from how they are in a home.

Boss deserves a family who will give him the love, patience and attention he’s never had. I just know he would make the best buddy & shower his family with so much love & kisses 😚

I have cancer. But I’m still here. ❤️

My name is Constance, but my friends call me Connie.

A mammary tumor was discovered during my spay, and the biopsy came back malignant. I don’t understand what cancer means. I don’t know what my future looks like.

But I understand what it feels like to be loved.

I understand a gentle hand on my face. A soft bed. Someone sitting beside me. Treats. Kisses. Feeling safe.

Just like people, dogs need comfort when they’re sick. And I shouldn’t have to face the most difficult chapter of my life alone in a shelter.

I’m 7 years old and 44 pounds, and even after everything, I still have pep in my step. I know sit, down and paw. I love treats. I explore the yard. I give kisses. I am still happy. I am still me.

I don’t need hundreds of people to save me.

I need one.

One adopter willing to give me a soft place to land. Or one foster and rescue willing to take a chance on me and help determine what comes next.

Please don’t scroll past me because my story is hard.

My life still matters. My days still matter. And I deserve to spend them being loved.

URGENT PLEA 🆘

10/11 DEADLINE- broward animal care Fort Lauderdale, Florida🚨

🚨🚨Meet Emmett! #A2480833
8-Years-Old | 48 Pounds

Emmett was found wandering a neighborhood about a month ago when some kind folks took him in and attempted to find his family. Unfortunately, due to some medical concerns, they were not able to keep him when they were unsuccessful in getting him reunited, so he was brought to us for help.

Emmett came in with an infected wound on his hip that may be self-inflicted; likely a hot spot that he kept picking at until it got to that state. The wound has been cleaned, and he’s been started on dexamethasone and cefpodoxime.

Sadly, his concerns do not end there. Emmett is also suffering from perianal fistulas, causing bloody discharge and diarrhea. This poor, old man just can’t catch a break.

Emmett is quite nervous and defensive, but given how much pain he’s in and not knowing how he ended up in yet another unfamiliar place, it’s understandable that he doesn’t want to let anyone too close.

***Emmett must receive commitment by Sunday, 10/11.***

ADOPTED 💔 HUGO IS STILL WAITING… AND HE DOESN’T UNDERSTAND WHY. 💔

Hugo is 11 years old. A senior boy who once had a home, a family, and a life he knew. 😔

His owner passed away, and Hugo came into the shelter with several other dogs from his family. He was loved. He was cared for. He knew what it felt like to belong.

And then, in an instant, he lost everything.💔💔💔

His best friend was a senior female German Shepherd who was also brought in with him. She has already been adopted. ❤️‍🩹

But Hugo is still here.

Still waiting.

Still looking.

Still wondering when someone is coming back for him.

Hugo is dog-friendly, small, quiet, and honestly… he doesn’t ask for much. He isn’t perfect. He has a fatty mass on his backside and a bump on his head. But at 11 years old, does he really need to be perfect?

He needs a soft bed.
A quiet place to rest.
Someone who will be patient with him.
Someone who will let him feel safe again.
Someone who will love an old dog who has already lost so much. 🥺❤️

15 years married. ❤️ @rlrev78

We met in LA, and who knew that would turn into NYC, getting snowed in during a blizzard… and somehow starting this crazy adventure 17 years ago. ❄️❤️

What a wild ride it has been. So much fun, so many memories, so many laughs—and absolutely no regrets.

I knew I had to find someone who would agree to all my crazy Halloween costume ideas 😂🎃… but more importantly, someone who loves Jesus and would walk through life with me.

Thank you for choosing me, loving me, and for making me a mother. ❤️

This love—and motherhood—is the greatest gift of all.

15 years married, 17 years of us, and I still can’t wait to see what’s next.

Here’s to the next 15 years… on our new farmhouse, with more crazy adventures, more costumes, more laughs, and hopefully a little less chaos. 😂🏡❤️

Sweet Tim was adopted months ago from Miami Dade Animal Shelter to end up at Broward County Animal care!

He’s a large mastiff breed mix & a shelter is not a place for this sweet boy. He’s now at Broward Shelter in the glass viewing room.
