Officially an Honorary doctorate-Dr. Tamra Vanea’ Simmons and I want to share this moment because it is so much bigger than a degree.

I am the byproduct of a little girl who didn’t have a traditional foundation. My parents were around, but due to their struggles with substance abuse, they weren’t really present.

I was raised by my grandparents, and by the time I was four, my path already looked different than most.

When people look at me and assume I come from a perfect background, I just smile. It’s not because I’m ashamed of my story, but because I know exactly what it took to stand here today.

I have spent my life chasing every goal in front of me because I always believed God had a plan for me, even when the pieces didn’t seem to fit and nothing made sense.

This is for that little girl.

This is for my children.

This is for breaking cycles and building a new legacy.

I am beyond grateful that my kids are here to witness this. I pray they always know that whatever God has for them is already theirs.

If you are wondering if you can move past where you started, please know that you can. I am living proof of that. God wrote the ending of this story long before I ever understood the beginning.

Thank you to everyone who called, texted, supported, and showed me love. Thank you to Pinnacle Christian University for seeing the work I was doing while I was still in the middle of the journey.

This doctorate is more than just a title to me. It is heavy. It carries every single part of my story with it.

They say the year starts in January, but for me the real new year begins in February when the noise settles, the intentions get clearer, and the vision sharpens.

This is my true reset. New year, new me, new attitude, new mindset. Softer in spirit, stronger in resolve. I’m moving with grace, thinking with intention, and choosing peace without surrendering my power.

I’ve been sitting with this since late last night as I learned the unfolding details of this loss. There are moments when loss feels impossible to hold. Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele, were unalived in their home last night, according to reports.
