This year again, we’ll open 150 spots.
As every year the number of female athletes is increasing considerably, we still want to encourage them to take part in our event, it’s why 50 per cent of the field is reserved for Flinta riders. We also keep a fair amount of spots reserved for our long-time supporters who have attended 2 or more editions. Finally there will be a lottery for the rest.

We are currently working on the new website. We will communicate the application date soon.

(If we don’t reach 50% of flinta, we’ll pick up riders in the waiting list)

🚴‍♂️🌧️ UNKNOWN RACE 2026 🌍

On March 31st, 2026, at 9:00 AM, the start of the legendary @theunknown_race took place in Reus, Spain. After battling through one of the toughest unsupported races known for its brutal weather conditions, the rider @straps_377 from Styria, Austria crossed the finish line on April 2nd at around 4:30 AM. 💪🔥

The Unknown Race is more than a competition — it’s a challenge of endurance, resilience, and self-reliance. Open to riders of all backgrounds, ages, fitness levels, and bike types, it celebrates the spirit of adventure and equality for everyone.

As an unsupported race, participants rely solely on their own power:
❌ No drafting
❌ No assistance cars
❌ No public transport
✅ Pure determination

We at Katadyn were proud to support this incredible event by sponsoring 15 BeFree Bottles 💧 and contributing to a charity organization that shares the same passion for adventure and community.

Well well, pictures from @theunknown_race just dropped (and seriously, what hell of shots are these, @doma.grunt @saskiacmartin @theklund1 ?! 🤯) so yeah… time for a slightly sentimental post.

After two DNFs in the past years, I’d almost convinced myself to quit this ultracycling thing: “go back to dotwatching, racing’s not for you.”
And then… registrations opened, and I signed up straight away 😅

Because, as @jbobbink put it perfectly: the real win is being at the start line of a race like this. And he’s right.

This year the difference was simple: enjoying ALL of the journey. Not just race days, but everything around it—cold winter rides, fog, night training… made way better by sharing it with two solid friends like @mrcdidio e @mrn_sbstn .

So yeah, a circle closed…but at the start line, not the finish! That was just the cherry on top.

And finally, biggest thanks to @clarabocchio and Nina, for the constant support in this obsession of mine that I can’t really give up… even when it clashes with real life. taken in Reus, Cataluña, Espanha by @theunknown_race

The finishers’ party was a blast, our hungry cyclists let the tapas disappear faster than the Café Reus team could serve them.

In the final days, the main square of Reus has become increasingly crowded with riders. They are experiencing a big contrast, shifting from the solitude of riding alone or alongside fellow participants to immersing themselves in Spain’s Easter traditions, which are taking place right at the event’s finishing location.
