It's been wayyy too long since The Walkaways serenaded Portland's most musical basement @goodfootlounge with the finest Phish cover covers in the land!

And we're excited to be hosting the debut of @pdxgene's new project, The Mighty Sparks of Universal Love Show Band and Revue. In true Gene style, they'll be in charge of late night grooves. He'll tell you more about @themightysparks in the days to come.

We're also excited to be bringing in a couple ringers: @sean_the_vibetender on sax and @kaceyfarrens on vocals. If you were lucky enough to hear her on Ramble On last fall, then you know how good this is gonna be!

OMG! Our show with @thewalkawayspdx on Saturday was one of the highlights of the year. We knew it would be good, but the whole experience transcended all expectations. They cooked up such a fun setlist which included many deep cuts like this nugget, which Phish only played once. The music was great but the vibe was even better. All adorned in golden attire, this crowd was grooving hard from start to finish!

Happy 50th birthday Chrissy and thanks so much for bringing such an epic crew of people together from all over the country. It was a thrill to host so many first time visitors to the area. (Seems like a good week to give a nod to the tapers)

Portland - we've been laser-focused on our trip to Nevada City this weekend, but we want you to know we haven't forgotten you! Fun things planned for late 2026 & early 2027...

Goodfoot 11/19 is going to feature a set from @pdxgene's shiny new project @themightysparks, along with our friend @kaceyfarrens ...and more special guests tba ;-)

Tomorrow's Verse 12/5 is going to be a Hanukkah celebration of Love & Light featuring the amazing @hayleyvalentine_

Laurelthirst 12/29...we elbowed our way into the Happy Hour rotation!

1/30 at the Goodfoot will be a momentous occasion as we share the evening with @shaftypdx

Then on Mar 5 we're headed back to @silvermoonbrewing in Bend! by @thewalkawayspdx

We try to make every Walkaways show special, but when it's someone's birthday, we really go all out. The tradition got started back in March 2024 for our friend (and Walkawife to G) @_jennmann's 50th. @pdxgene & @andylohr, with help from @coreyfostermusic on drums and Dan Goldman on bass fired up the GTL-2001 Time Displacement Unit and transported an A-Frame full of people back to the 2nd set of Jenn's all-time favorite show:

And what do you know?....our next show is a 50th birthday celebration for another Walkawife, Andy R's @crushie_marina! What do we have planned for this show? We highly recommend you book a flight, hop a train, steal a car, borrow a horse...whatever you gotta do to get your butts to Nevada City, CA next Saturday, Oct 10 to see The Walkaways blow the proverbial roof off the @crazylikeahorse by @thewalkawayspdx

The Walkaways have a gig tomorrow. We're playing Down by the River at @skylabarchitecture HQ, a really important fundraiser to support @humanaccessproject and their work to revitalize the Willamette waterfront.

It might rain. Big deal. Some of the greatest rock & roll shows of all time have been played in the rain. Woodstock, for one. @mymorningjacket's late night set at Bonnaroo 2008. U2 got snowed on at Red Rocks, and it made Bono look even cooler.

My own favorite rainy musical memory*...June 1994, my friend @ksawyerrose & I drove from Charlotte, NC to Athens, GA to check out Super Jam 4, featuring @widespreadpanic, @davematthewsband, Col. Bruce Hampton & the Aquarium Rescue Unit, and Jackopierce. Word in the lot was that Allgood had been replaced by some new band named @govtmule, which apparently featured Warren & Woody from the Allman Brothers. All for $15 🤯

Now this was not your modern-day music festival. An un-mowed grass field outside of town. I think there were porta-potties, but I can't be sure. The UGA fraternities all brought couches from their houses for seating. Being Sunday in Georgia, there were no alcohol sales, but rogue kegs were everywhere.

As expected, ARU blew our minds...one of the only times I got to see them. The Mule was loud, raw and scary...and would soon be one of my favorite bands. DMB was well on their way to being big time, but still played 2nd fiddle to Panic, the hometown heroes.

Back in July, The Walkaways had an all-time musical adventure to @highsierramusic Bright & early on Friday morning in the Music Hall, we unveiled the Top 10 Phish Covers of All Time (as chosen by us), complete with everyone-wins Bingo, and a guest spot by the one-and-only George Porter Jr.. We're all still pinching ourselves 7 weeks later.

Thanks to all the volunteers and pros at High Sierra Music Festival, David Marguiles, Grizzly Radio, Marty Lefkowitz, and, of course, George Porter, Jr. Hopefully we’ll see you again in 2027. by @thewalkawayspdx

We didn’t book one band for this. We booked three. The Walkaways bring their covers. Top Shelf All Stars bring the funk. And The Gray Band, well, no photos exist of them, we’re told they’re real, you’ll just have to hear it to believe it.

Saturday, September 12 at Skylab Architecture. Three bands, one night, all for the river.

A couple important announcements regarding tomorrow night's late show at @kellysolympian:

1. We have a couple guests joining us! Around 11 we're going to be wishing our friend @sethbermania a happy 50th birthday, and to achieve the level of groove, soulfulness and rock & roll awesomeness that Seth deserves, we're bringing in 2 of our favorite musicians in Portland: @sean_the_vibetender on sax and @davefleschner on keys. Dave's been busy touring the country with Tommy Castro, so it's become a rare treat for him to show up at a Portland gig. Sean, on the other hand, well, he's kinda everywhere 😉 but it's still a treat!
