The joy of buying new perfumes vs the joy of unboxing, not sure which one beats which 😂

Finally got to unbox the Thai niche perfumes (and a bit of Le Labo since it’s city exclusive season) from The Scent of Siam event. When I tell you, I had to go to the bathroom to soap up and wash off the scents from my arm so I could try on more perfume on my skin… I wasn’t kidding. So many niche and unique smells I encountered that day blew my mind how far the Thai perfume industry has grown to be.

One of the perfumes was a pre-order was I just had to have it. Within a couple of weeks, it was sent to me. I literally got the last quota bottle because the ingredients used were very specific to this upcountry area and was only available for a limited amount.

A lot of these Thai perfumes use ingredients that are specific to Thailand, and I cannot wait to love them even more as I get to know all of them. by @thewanderfullist

This past weekend I went to what seemed to be the biggest Thai niche perfume event! Ever since I got into niche perfumes, I have always wanted to get my nose on some of the incredible local brands. I may have gone a little overboard here. I’ve never spent so much in one day in my own hometown 😂 These perfumes are not cheap!

I spent the entire afternoon there and stayed until the event ended and the mall was closing. As someone who has a lot of perfumes. I was looking for unique fragrances that are not similar to the ones I already own. Well I got to smell some very unique scents here and there were a couple I needed to have as soon as I smelled it.

Le Labo was also selling testers of city exclusive for a limited time. Full size bottles of these city exclusives will be available next month in BKK shops. Not local of course, but very well loved.

One of the top ranked hot pot restaurant in Shanghai Xintiandi area on the Dianping app!

Very old school luxury, exactly the Shanghai upscale restaurant in your imagination. The service here is top notch. At one point, we even saw one of the staff ironing the table cloth on the table. Everything was cooked and portioned out for us. Our waittress saw me sweating a lot and brought me an electric fan to help me cool down and even gave us a free umbrella because it was raining when we left!

It is of course quite pricey, but I do feel that the great service and the quality of the food made it all worth it. What an experience!

I’ve fallen in love with Shanghai. From the temples, to the great view on the bund, to the local perfumes and Le Labo shop in Xintiandi. I bought over 10 bottles of local perfume during this trip. I live in Bangkok and the shopping scene is hard to beat, but Shanghai definitely beats it.

I bought my first Le Labo in this store! Instead of getting Another 13 or Santal 33, I opted for the Shanghai exclusive scent Myrrhe 55, a unique lovely woody and resinous scent that really sticks.

This is where I spent my last hour in Shanghai, very quickly and efficiently bought the most expensive perfume I’ve ever owned 😆

One of the best meals I’ve had in Shanghai is this place my best friend had booked for me called Lai Chill 来去
❤️
This hidden gem has no menu and serves as sort of a “lab” for testing various recipes. Everything tasted so amazing I couldn’t believe it. The vibe was so cozy and intimate with only 3 tables available each night. Later at night, they also have music and sheesha. Very great way to spend your evening slowly. Also there’s a really cute cat that followed me all the way to the front gate 🥹

Spending time slowly in New Bahru, Singapore. New Bahru used to be a school. Later the area was turned into a new shopping and dining area, filled with great food, amazing coffee, and plenty of local designer shops. Very fulfilling day shopping for deisgn items and eating yummy breakfast.

Throw back to part of my best friend’s wedding, the Shanghai Architectural City Walk she had arranged for us international travellers. It was easily the best part of the entire Shanghai trip. We walked into old buildings, saw real bullet holes, and bits and parts of what is left of communism propaganda. Very interesting walk indeed.

I stayed and watch this swirling tidal waves for hours and hours at Mekari Shinto Shrine near the Kanmon bridge and tunnel entrance in Mojiko. Such a power spot, yet such peaceful vibe.
