She was struggling to cough, couldn’t talk, was choking. And he knew exactly where to put his hands.

When someone is pregnant and choking, the usual move of pushing in above the belly button can cause you to press right into the uterus which is something you don’t want.
Later in pregnancy there’s no room there anyway. So you go to the chest.

If she can still cough hard, let her cough and stay with her. If she can’t breathe, speak, or cough:
1.	Have someone call 911.
2.	Lean her forward and give 5 firm back blows between the shoulder blades.
3.	Stand behind her, arms under her armpits, fist on the middle of the breastbone. Pull straight back 5 times.
4.	Keep going until it comes out. If she passes out, get her flat on the floor and start CPR.

Even if it works, she can call her OB and tell them what happened. Any concerns about the baby after this might mean she should go to labor and delivery/ED to be seen.

Poll 📖: Would you have known to go to the chest?

Save this and send it to someone who’s expecting.

Some of these buttons I hit faster than others.

If you’ve been told heavy periods or cramps that keep you home from work are “just part of being a woman,” that isn’t always true, and you’re allowed to want answers.

A couple of things the buttons can’t explain. Small period clots are common, but clots bigger than a quarter or soaking a pad every hour are worth bringing to your doctor.

Heavy periods are also one of the most common reasons women run low on iron. If you’re tired all the time, ask about your ferritin.

Quick poll: which period myth did you believe the longest?

Your bathroom break shouldn’t feel like a workout. đŸ˜…đŸ’©

If you’re regularly straining to poop, these five habits may help with constipation and easier bowel movements.

One extra tip: increase fiber gradually. Adding too much at once can leave you feeling bloated.

Persistent straining or painful bowel movements deserve a conversation with your doctor, even if you’re already eating well and drinking water.

Save this for your next grocery run.

Poll: Do you ignore the urge to poop when you’re busy?

Most of us guys learned about periods from one awkward health class and stuff we maybe overhead or saw on TV/online.

Then we grew up and we were expected to support the women in our lives through something nobody really explained to us.

So here are three things I think every man should know. They’re not complicated, and once you know them, you’ll understand why “just take a Tylenol” doesn’t always cut it.

Ladies, if there’s a man in your life who needs this, you know what to do. 😅

It’s the clitoris.

For decades people repeated that it has 8,000 nerve endings. No human study had ever counted them. The researchers who finally did think that number came from a study on cows.

The first human count landed around 10,000 nerve fibers. A second team counted fewer, but found something surprising. By surface area, it has about six times the nerve density of the equivalent male anatomy.

Most of it is internal, too. What you can see is just the tip.

If health class never covered this, that’s not on you. Female anatomy got skipped in medical training for a long time too.

Getting tested for STIs is nothing to be ashamed of. Neither is asking for help or receiving a diagnosis.

Pregnancy face is real. Fuller cheeks, a puffier nose, dark patches that often fade after delivery. But the type of swelling matters.

If your face or hands swell suddenly, call your OB or midwife right away, even if you feel fine otherwise.

If while pregnant you develop a headache that won’t go away, blurry vision, or severe discomfort under your right ribs, that needs urgent care too. These can be signs of preeclampsia, and it can show up even after the baby comes.

If it’s ever happened to you in the middle of yoga or during certain activities and you wanted to disappear, you’re far from alone.

Studies vary a lot, but in one study of nearly 1,000 women, about 1 in 5 had experienced it, and it’s even more common in women with pelvic floor issues.

It’s air that got pushed into the vagina and came back out. There’s no gut gas involved, which is why it doesn’t smell.

There are some situations where it’s worth mentioning to your doctor. If it started after giving birth and it bothers you, pelvic floor exercises and pelvic floor therapy can help.

And if it ever smells like stool, or you notice stool or brown discharge from the vagina, get checked, because that can point to a fistula. It’s very fixable once it’s found.

Your coffee isn’t shrinking your chest.

A viral video said it was, and I understand why it spread. There’s one small study behind the claim, and it only found a link in women with a certain variation of CYP1A2, the gene your liver uses to break down caffeine.
Estrogen barely moves with coffee, and in some people it goes up.

If you love your morning cup, keep it. If you’re trying to lower your estrogen on purpose, please talk to a doctor first.

Quick poll: have you ever cut back on coffee because of something you saw online?

@mottsworld_ showed something a lot of people with HS live with quietly: planning your day around when a flare might drain. Thank you for sharing this.

If you have hidradenitis suppurativa, you didn’t cause it, and it has nothing to do with being clean.

It also shows up more often in Black women, and too many get brushed off for years.

If painful lumps or “boils” keep coming back in your armpits, groin or under your breasts, see a dermatologist and ask about HS by name.

Were you ever told yours were just boils or ingrown hairs? If you have HS, tell me how long it took to get diagnosed.

📊 Quick poll: Before this video, what did you think caused lumps like these?

If this has ever happened to you, please don't feel embarrassed. A forgotten tampon is not uncommon; I’ve seen cases in the clinic, and it happens to careful, clean people, too.

Those heavy period days can get really busy, and when that happens, it's easy to lose track and forget you had one in.

What I wish more people knew is that a forgotten tampon usually causes strong-smelling discharge, which often gets treated as BV while the real cause is still there.

And it can't get lost inside you, even though you might have heard that before. It can just sit high enough, and be positioned in a way, that you don't feel it.

If you think one might be stuck, you can try to remove it gently, or let your doctor or urgent care help if it’s difficult or you can't reach it. Removing it takes only a couple of minutes, and nobody there will judge you.

One thing you should remember is that if you get a fever, a rash, vomiting, or feel faint while using a tampon, please go to the ER. by @thewhizdoc
