Sherman Lee Butler, 44, was fatally shot on July 12, 2024, inside his Detroit apartment while authorities attempted to carry out an eviction. According to his family’s attorneys, Butler was experiencing a severe mental health crisis, and a specialized crisis intervention team had already been called. BUT INSTEAD OF WAITING FOR TRAINED MENTAL HEALTH PROFESSIONALS, A COURT BAILIFF AND TWO POLICE OFFICERS ENTERED HIS APARTMENT. Officers used Tasers, and the confrontation ended with the bailiff shooting Butler. Prosecutors later ruled the shooting justified, stating that Butler approached officers with a box cutter. His family disputes how the situation was handled and filed a $150 million federal lawsuit on October 9, 2026, alleging civil rights violations, excessive force, and disability discrimination.

GROWN WHITE MAN HITS YOUNG BOY AFTER THE BOY REFUSES TO GIVE HIM HIS NAME! WHO GAVE THIS ADULT THE RIGHT TO PUT HIS HANDS ON A CHILD?

A disturbing video circulating online shows a confrontation between an adult white man and a young white male riding a bike near a playground. According to the account accompanying the video, the adult repeatedly questioned the young rider, who understood that he did not have to give his name to a random stranger. Instead of respecting his boundaries, the man allegedly became angry and struck him. The young rider reportedly called police, and the adult was subsequently arrested. LET THAT SINK IN. A GROWN MAN ALLEGEDLY PUT HIS HANDS ON A YOUNG PERSON BECAUSE HE DIDN’T GET THE ANSWER HE WANTED.

WHAT IS WRONG WITH ADULTS WHO THINK THEIR AGE GIVES THEM AUTHORITY OVER EVERY CHILD THEY ENCOUNTER? Being older does not mean you can demand personal information, intimidate young people, or physically assault someone who refuses to comply with you. CHILDREN DESERVE RESPECT, PERSONAL BOUNDARIES, AND PROTECTION FROM ADULTS WHO CANNOT CONTROL THEIR ANGER. If the reported arrest is confirmed, there must be appropriate accountability.
