The heart and soul of @theworldstage, @drumrene bka Mama Nene, was surrounded by family, friends, musicians, and community for a birthday celebration filled with everything that has made The World Stage special for generations.

Alongside Dwight Trible, Mama Nene has been one of the people helping keep the Stage alive as a home for music, mentorship, culture, and community. So it was only right that the room filled up to give some of that love back.

The celebration moved through a drum circle, dancing, jazz, singing, laughter, and fellowship, with each moment feeling less like a formal program and more like family gathered around one of its pillars.

What made the night most meaningful was simply witnessing Mama Nene receive her flowers while she is here to smell them.

A beautiful celebration for someone who has poured so much into so many.
