Pequenos testes com pastel seco Faber-Castell Polychromos. O objetivo era entender como ele se comportava em diferentes tipos de papel, explorando as texturas, e também observar o resultado quando combinado com lápis de cor.

Nos últimos meses, tenho revisitado alguns trabalhos antigos, tentando encontrar características que foram se repetindo e se construindo ao longo dos últimos anos. A imagem acima foi feita em 2020 e, até hoje, continua reverberando muito dentro de mim. Sinto que ela carrega um silêncio e uma calmaria de que muitas vezes sinto falta. 😅

Over the past few months, I’ve been revisiting some of my older work, trying to find the visual traits that have gradually repeated and evolved over the years. This illustration was created in 2020, and it still resonates deeply with me. I feel it carries a sense of silence and calm that I often find myself missing. 😅

O livro ‘Você está seguro’ também é uma história sobre presença - sobre aqueles que ficam e aos quais sempre retornamos quando mais precisamos.

Enquanto criava o livro junto à Emília e ao Edu (nosso editor), refletia sobre meus próprios lugares seguros: o cuidado incondicional da minha mãe, as risadas dos meus amigos, todos aqueles que me acolheram pelo caminho… Com o tempo, também tenho aprendido a enxergar esse espaço até dentro de mim - talvez, o maior desafio de todos.

O livro retrata, de forma poética, uma relação que atravessa o tempo entre um pai e um filho. Meu desejo é que essa história ajude pais a perceberem a grandeza e importância de seus papéis, mas desejo que ela também celebre todos os nossos portos seguros: mães, avós, tias, professoras, amigos e tantas outras pessoas que fazem a vida parecer menos assustadora e mais cheia de amor.

Espero que este livro te abrace forte e te acolha como também me abraçou e me acolheu.

1. In one of my favorite albums, Brazilian singer Maria Bethânia quotes a phrase by poetry Guimarães Rosa that says: "Close to a lot of water, all is happy" | 2. I'm not a big believer in astrology, but I love the idea of being born under the sun sign of Pisces, oddly enough (or not) I carry all the traits associated with Pisceans | 3. On days when I'm very stressed or sad, it's common for me to stop everything I'm doing to take a shower, because being in contact with water, most of the time, helps me a lot. | 4. The illustration above, despite being involved in another context, also represents much of what I just shared with you: the immeasurable sense of peace that we feel around water. I think it's fantastic! 🐟🐠🌊

🇧🇷 1. Em um dos meus discos preferidos, a Maria Bethânia cita uma frase de Guimarães Rosa que diz: "perto de muita água, tudo é feliz" | 2. Eu não acredito muito em astrologia, mas adoro a ideia de ter nascido sob o signo solar de Peixes, por incrível que pareça (ou não), carrego a maioria das características associadas aos piscianos | 3. Nos dias em que estou muito estressado ou triste, é comum que eu pare tudo que estou fazendo para tomar banho, pois estar em contato com a água, na maioria das vezes, me ajuda | 4. Essa ilustração acima, apesar de estar envolvida em um outro contexto, também representa muito de tudo isso que acabei de compartilhar com vocês: a imensurável sensação de paz que sentimos perto da água. Eu acho isso fantástico! 🐟🐠🌊

Childhood is a theme that comes back frequently in my therapy sessions. In general, I conclude on the importance of welcoming my "inner child" who ended up growing up without knowing how to deal with his wounds very well. 😌🥰 Working with childhoods might be a beautiful way to keep that creative little boy alive who "only knew how to draw." Sometimes I break my face, but I think I feel very proud of still being able to see the world with those dreamy eyes.

🇧🇷 A infância é um tema que costuma voltar com frequência nas minhas sessões de terapia. Em geral, concluo sobre a importância de acolher minha "criança interior" que acabou crescendo sem saber lidar muito bem com suas feridas. 😌🥰 Trabalhar com infâncias talvez seja um jeito lindo de manter vivo aquele menininho criativo que vivia no "mundo dos desenhos". Às vezes eu quebro a cara, mas acho que sinto muito orgulho de ainda conseguir enxergar o mundo com aqueles olhinhos sonhadores.

I made this painting in mixed media, using Colored Pencil, Acrylic Paint, and Water-soluble Wax Pastel on Harmony Hahnmühle Paper.

In the book "O menino que não cabia na caixa" (The boy who didn't fit in the box, in free translation), we talk about how we are shaped by what society expects of us from an early age.

To represent the idea that we are "put in boxes," all the characters assume this form, except for our autistic boy, who refuses to fit into the "mold."

In the image above, we see the moment when this happens and how he feels sad inside that place, unlike the other children, who are represented happily because they do not perceive themselves in this place.
