This summer we hosted Thinking Black students and supporters at our Publication & Awards Party! 💥

It was amazing to celebrate student achievements and launch our first print anthology featuring student work from our ACT essay and creative writing programmes with so many lovely people 📖💕

The day featured a Caribbean & West African buffet, poetry readings, an alumni panel, award presentations, merch, books, music & enjoyment🕺🏽

📣 Volunteers needed for our 2026 ACT Summer School!

We’re looking for enthusiastic volunteers to support talented Year 12 students of Black heritage from 10–14 August in Whitechapel, East London.

Our greatest need is for volunteers who hold an Enhanced DBS certificate and can support our small-group sessions, particularly from 11am–12pm or 3.15–4pm. You won’t be expected to teach: you’ll remain in the room alongside the facilitator, helping us maintain a safe and supportive environment.

We’d also love help with welcoming students, breaks, lunchtime and the general running of the programme.

You can volunteer for selected times or days, there’s no need to attend the full week. Lunch will be provided! 💚

Students will receive support on UCAS applications, subject choice, money management, interview skills, exam revision, mental well-being support, and more! 📈

Online workshops will take place live on Saturday mornings from 5th September, and will also be available to watch on demand.

In order to apply you must be: of Black or Mixed-Black heritage, attending a UK state school, in Year 12 or 13 when you apply.
