A year ago, we wrapped a short documentary, titled What We Show Them, about a small-town school in Bonners Ferry, Idaho—Valley View Elementary. Built in 1949 from salvaged WWII materials, the school has cracks in the walls, a leaky roof, and rusted plumbing. It’s not just outdated—it’s unsafe.

Today, we are incredibly proud to share that the film has been selected as a finalist for a The Webby Awards. by @thinkless.studio

Times Square, 23 September!

La Caravana ran on the screen at 1560 Broadway, and the Ventura Twins were standing under it when it played.

Thirteen days and 2,700 miles in an F-150 Lobo, Miami to Dallas to Los Angeles, and then New York.

All three episodes are on Ford Latino’s YouTube.

The look of La Caravana, by Courtney Wells.

Collages, route maps, location cards and the title sequence, built for three episodes for Ford Motor Company with the Ventura Twins, Brayan and Brando.

It’s one of our favorite parts of the series. Courtney pulled from the places themselves: the colors, the textures, the hand-painted signs and mural walls. Every graphic carries a piece of the culture it introduces, so the series feels like it came from those neighborhoods.

That’s something we push for on every brand project. Design that gives the story life, and makes the work look like nobody else’s.

Welcome to your new travel guide!

La Caravana is three episodes with Brayan and Brando Ventura, the Ventura Twins. Thirteen days and 2,700 miles in an F-150 Lobo, Miami to Dallas to Los Angeles, stopping in the kitchens, garages, dance halls and mural walls where Latino culture lives and letting the people who keep them going tell it, in English and Spanish.

“I knew we needed to go to Think Less. They are incredible storytellers.” Lauren Vrazilek, Ford Motor Company

Forty hours awake. Teams at aid stations, leapfrogging checkpoints through the night to stay with four runners.
That’s what covering UTMB actually took.

@lbbonline sat down with Phil for Behind the Work — how Sufferfest came together for The North Face, and why the spine of a sports doc gets built through the race itself.

The making of Sufferfest — a few days in the English fells with one athlete and one crew. One of the five countries we traveled to.

None of us knew yet whose story it would make it in. That’s the point of shooting it: the race gets cut against the ordinary days, and you have to have the ordinary days.
Day into dusk into night. Half of getting a film like this is the unglamorous half.

Swipe it in order — the five slides are one photograph, and several frames run straight across the cuts.

Sufferfest: Welcome to The Pain Cave is a three-part documentary series we made with @thenorthface — four elite trail runners at @utmbmontblanc , 108 miles through France, Italy, and Switzerland, 32,000 feet of climbing.

Most of it was waiting. UTMB’s own cameras have the race itself covered, so we spent ours parked at aid stations ahead of the field, waiting for one of our four to come in. They’d refuel, say something to a coach or a partner, and go. Then we’d get ahead of them and wait again. Nearly forty hours, nobody sleeping.

The race runs across all three episodes, cut against quiet moments at home, two characters at a time.

@kakiorr at The North Face said we found the stories within the chaos. We’ll take that.

All three episodes are on YouTube now. Comment SUFFERFEST and we will DM you the link.

There’s a reason people have marked their skin for thousands of years. It’s not decoration — it’s devotion. You sit with the pain, you breathe through it, and when it’s done something has shifted. You carry something new, or finally wear what you’ve always felt on the inside.

We spent the afternoon at @mercyslc capturing that energy. The quiet before the needle. The trust between artist and client. The moment someone feels more like themselves than they did an hour ago.

Tonight. 8:30pm ET.
Call to Serve premieres on @disneyplus and @hulu.

A veteran on the edge of purpose. A hurricane barreling toward a forgotten town. A team of first responders racing in.
This is not just a story of disaster response—it’s a story of human response.

Call to Serve follows Dean, a U.S. Army veteran struggling to find his footing, as he joins a Team Rubicon mission in the wake of Hurricane Ian. What starts as a volunteer deployment becomes a journey of healing, connection, and the rediscovery of self—through service to others.

“Balancing prep with chaos—producing meant knowing which hat to wear, and when.”
—Phil Hessler, Producer/Director

On Call to Serve, every day demanded a new version of ourselves.

One moment we were coordinating shoots in hurricane zones. The next, quietly capturing a veteran’s most vulnerable truth. What made this project work wasn’t just the gear or the grit—it was the team knowing exactly when to lead, when to adapt, and when to listen.

In the chaos of hurricanes and the quiet moments of healing, our DoPs @mackwoodruff and @dylanwineland and AC’s @marcuscatlett and @briandurkee brought a rare eye to the frame—equal parts grit and grace.

They carried cameras through wind-torn towns and into still, human spaces. Never forcing the shot. Just listening. Just watching.
