Dropped by @hadestown for performance number 2,462 and basked in the glow of this miracle of a musical.

Not only is this an exquisitely crafted and staged show. Not only is it spreading love and healing to audiences every night. Not only is it shaping our next generation of performers by becoming one of the most popular high school musicals in America. On top of all that, “Hadestown” has become one of the most intriguingly cast shows on Broadway, thanks to @whitleytheatrical. The casting announcements always hold surprises, pulling performers from different worlds into this beautifully diverse company—and sometimes introducing me to talents I didn’t even know before.

With a constant rotation of performers in the five leading roles—joining the wonderful core cast—the characters keep evolving and the show keeps feeling fresh and exciting. The casting changes so often that I’ve missed many an Orpheus over seven years, but this new crew is terrific.

Three performers who have consistently thrilled on Broadway stages—a personal favorite, @norbert_leo_butz,as Hermes; stunning powerhouse @amberiman_ as Persephone; and golden-voiced @thisbendavis as Hades—are joined by exciting newcomers @jasminesavoy as Eurydice and @kaykomusic as Orpheus.

The production shows off what’s special about every one of them. What a thrill to see this show still so alive after 2,462 performances. Go see them all at the Walter Kerr. taken in Walter Kerr Theatre by @thisbendavis

1995. Dad and I drove from Indy to NYC for the first time and stayed at the Ameritania on 54th St.. One day, as we walked past The Broadway Theatre, Dad told me to pretend I was walking in the stage door. After a bit of protesting, I did it. 7 years after that, I found myself actually walking through that stage door to do my 2nd Broadway show, Baz Luhrmann’s La Boheme. Now, almost 30 years later, I will be walking in the stage door of the @walterkerrbroadway for my 11th Broadway show, @hadestown . So many people have believed in me, helped me, and shown up in so many ways. I am so incredibly grateful and humbled. What an incredible mystery this life is. Wish he was here to take another pic but @jeannejewelldavis you’re gonna have to do it when you come! taken in Walter Kerr Theatre by @thisbendavis

For many reasons, Ragtime has been a keystone in my life since 1998. Biggest among them, in 2004, I did a show with Marin Mazzie and @jasondanieley and, as they were known to do, was made family. I marveled at her on and offstage. I say all this in order to help convey what a true honor and dream come true it is to be a part of this show starting tonight. And to do it with this incredible cast and at this theatre… it’s just all too perfect. Thank you to everyone at @ragtimemusical for their work the past 10 days during an already ridiculously crazy Tony season. taken in Vivian Beaumont Theatre At Lincoln Centre by @thisbendavis
