For 8 hours I built a house out of thread and tissue paper - as well as eggshells, star anise and rice. The name of this piece 'Up to the Elephant, Down to the Dog' takes its name from a Vietnamese idiom shared in a conversation between Professor Kim and his mother, describing life’s unpredictability: one day high as the elephant, the next low as the dog.

The house remembers the fragile architectures mothers and immigrant families rebuilt in the aftermath of war. It asks: how do we make home after rupture?

Presented on the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam War's end, this piece reflects on the hidden labor of mothers within larger historical narratives.

In a future where humanity has abandoned Earth, a stranded astronaut returns to the planet from which their species once emerged, only to discover that their body has become alien to this world.

A short film from Thailand (3’51’’), exploring ecological estrangement, human exceptionalism, and what it means to return home and no longer belong.

Shots from an upcoming short film my best friend and I wrote and shot together over just a few days. Cannot wait to sit down and edit this baby. The short film itself is about the hidden emotional labor of POCs in friendship with yt people, heavily inspired by the groundedness and minimalism in Sorry, Baby (and the weird microaggressions I had to deal with at a residency). Tentative title is Fuck You, Marissa.

River tangle sound installation by @carissalillianclark and me, presented at @creekside.arts greenhouse gallery.

When Carissa showed me the river tangles and shared her existing research on the river with me I was immediately intrigued. The river tangles were sculptural artistry by themselves, crafted by the river. Building on both our artistic inquiry on how non anthropomorphic storytelling that actively collaborate with non humans might look like we landed on the idea of a sound box that would display the river tangles and ask people to engage and listen closely to the river.

The soundboxes hold sounds collected from field recordings at local gravel mining sites, the Baduwa't River, and interview recordings of the Creekside Arts residents on their relationship with the river.
