Reviewing as much fantasy/romantasy/fiction as I can. Adding more to my TBR than I’ll ever read. Riding the “I Finished This Book” button high.

Hello! I’m Britt. I’m a basic bookstagrammer. I love to drink a cup of hot tea, snuggle in a cozy blanket, and get lost in a good book. I love fantasy but try to dabble in other genres as well. I read 1-2 books a month because I do most of my reading during nap times and after the kids are asleep.

✨ Into the Blue by Emma Brodie ✨
This was such a great summer read. It was the perfect book to sit by the pool and lose myself in this story of two young people finding themselves, weaving in and out of each others lives, navigating grief and complex family relationships, all with the through line of a sci-fi tv plot that I absolutely loved.
This is not a light romance instead leaning more Wuthering Heights. Both MCs are fighting their own demons and working through some pretty heavy issues.
I think the writing on this book was so strong. There is a scene toward the end of the book that took my breath away and only worked because the writing was so good and I was so invested in the climax of the story.
My only real complaint would be that I thought it wrapped up too quickly. The buildup was so high and the emotional weight was so strong that the end felt rushed and I wish I had more.
I really loved this book and would definitely recommend it (be sure to check those trigger warnings though) and I thought the writing was excellent which had me putting Songs in Ursa Major on my TBR directly after finishing it. by @thisbrittreads

Starting a new series called What I Read On My Run! Now that the temperatures are cooling down I’m able to get out on some longer runs and I love to get lost in an audiobook. This week I’m reading Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier for my book club and I’m letting the sweeping beauty and suspenseful undercurrent of Manderley sweep me away while I get some miles in. by @thisbrittreads

The community is alive and well and growing bigger every year and I’ve got next year’s NBF date already in my calendar. by @thisbrittreads

Summer Romance by Annabel Monaghan - An easy, fast read. This book is about a summer romance but it’s also about a mother of 3 dealing with the grief of her mother’s passing, her recent separation from her husband, and, most importantly, learning to find her voice in her own life after realizing she has willingly let it take a backseat to everyone else’s needs. by @thisbrittreads

A lot of discourse around this book but at the end of the day I loved it. I couldn’t put it down. I loved the writing that I felt held so many more clues and meaning after getting to the end. I think the commentary on the pitfalls of a performative life and the effects on ones’s subconscious are so relevant. There are a few plot holes and a few topics that could have maybe used more nuance but overall the tradwife movement/social media highlight reel/performance of it all was so compelling I couldn’t put the book down and had such a reaction when it was all done. by @thisbrittreads

@bellevillebooks had their book swap today so we went to check it out! I brought a few to swap and left with a few exciting finds! This bookstore is built in an old bank and has the coolest vibe. My kids chatted with the incredibly kind people working the counter and we grabbed their summer book bingo cards on the way out. Love love love when we get the chance to support local bookstore events! by @thisbrittreads

Sometimes you just have to pick up a classic. I did both physical read and audio and the audio narrator was fantastic. This felt like a very raw snapshot into this time, this neighborhood, these two families, and the two people at the center of the story. by @thisbrittreads
