✨My Physical TBR Challenge✨

I have posted a few updates since my 2026 goals post and I thought an informational post about my challenge would be helpful!

✨Anyone else feeling completely overwhelmed or trapped by their TBR? ✨

I saw a meme on here that asked “Would you survive if your physical TBR fell on you?”. I knew my physical TBR was out of control, but that really put it into perspective for me! I would definitely not survive mine falling on me! 🙈

My goal is to get my physical TBR to zero. Even if it is just for a day or a week, but I want to completely tackle my TBR. I would love to be able to say that I’ve read every book that I own!

So, I outlined the timeline, rules, and my motivation behind doing this in my post. If anyone else wants to join me, please tag me so I can support you on your journey too! 🫶🏻🫶🏻

I update during my monthly recaps, but I plan to do more in the future. Just like I am hoping to include you guys more in the future too with more polls where you guys choose my books off my TBR for me! Also, maybe a wheel or prompt jar of some sort in the future.

Either way the main plan is to not add to my physical TBR and read the books that I already own while saving money for my next long summer vacation.

So, I know that I am super late to this trend. 🙈 I saw it on someone else’s page and thought I’d share some tidbits about myself. Also, all the photos on the first five slides are ones I’ve taken. ✨

Do we have any obsessions in common?

✨Books that I Couldn’t Resist This Month✨

QOTD: Which October new release are you looking forward to most for the rest of the month or that came out earlier this month?

I went to an ACOTAR trivia night last night hosted at my favorite local indie bookstore by the most lovely of humans! 🫶🏻✨ So I’m stoked for ACOSH now!

I have been pretty good about my book buying ban and only grabbing continuations of series that I’ve already started, but when I did my pre-orders I couldn’t resist adding a small handful of books that were new to me. So far I haven’t found a Dramione fan fic turned trad book that I haven’t devoured. I’m so excited to read these! I’ve heard lots of good things!

✨ Feeling Blessed this Flatlay Friday✨

I think my favorite aspect of starting a bookstagram has been the friendships that I have made with other book lovers.

QOTD: What has been your favorite aspect of starting your bookstagram?

I have never had a community of book lovers to discuss the high and lows of my reading journey with before. It has been so much fun meeting you all and connecting over similar tastes in reading, book boyfriends, lovable side characters, as well as frustrations over cliffhanger endings. 😂🫶🏻

One specific bookish friend that I want to highlight today is Rachel aka @embroidered_epilogue

She made me this beautiful bookmark and sent me a few other bookish gifts. I am so excited to use them while conquering my tbr. 🖤

✨Ways to Summon Me: Part 2✨

I originally did this trend just books and I saw @embroidered_epilogue expand it to other topics. I thought it would be fun to do my own expanded version!

If I hear or see any of these tropes, themes, character niches, books, podcasts, movies, or tv shows being talked about, I always want to jump into the discussion and definitely want to read the book!

QOTD: What is something that would summon you immediately to a discussion or to read a book? Do we have any in common?

I am loving spooky season so far! Hope you are all having a wonderful week!

For context, the last two years, I’ve read close to 200 books, and I might do that again this year, but I didn’t want to pressure myself to do so. I want to be more intentional with what I’m reading and consistently write reviews. I am really enjoying this creative outlet and thank you all again for joining me. 🫶🏻

I have seen people post about going on a book buying ban and putting money in a jar for each book of their TBR that they read. Then, once they’ve finished their TBR, they go on a book shopping spree. I am twisting this slightly and making it savings for my travel fund. ✈️

My main focus this year is to read books off my physical TBR that I haven’t gotten to yet. I am limiting my book buying to my book subscriptions and my preorders. At least until I’ve made a dent in my physical TBR.

QOTD: How are you doing on your goals for the year?

Best,
Cass

✨Spotlight: Blossom & Book Co✨

QOTD: What is your favorite bookish merch to buy?

I saw this kindle case on here and I HAD to get my hands on it! While on their website, I couldn’t help but notice how many adorable bookish items they have! A few might have also managed to sneak into my cart!

I have been using the case for a few days and I LOVE the quality! It feels super durable, the design is gorgeous in person, and it is so easy to put on and take off!

I also snagged some cute t-shirts and the design on those looks amazing as well! Fit seems to be true to size and I love the quality of them too!

I do want to add that the shipping was super fast and I had zero issues with packaging! They even included a cute note from who I assume is the owner!

I will definitely be supporting this small business in the future!

✨My Quarterly Reading Wrap-Up: Quarter Three✨

I had so much fun putting this together! It was a great way to reflect on all the amazing books I’ve read so far this year!

Recap on Q3 Goals:
1. Read more audiobooks - I read more than Q2 but this is definitely something I can prioritize more!
2. Read more indie books - Some of my favorite books that I read in Q2 and Q3 were indie! I do want to continue to read more indie books!
3. Write a review for every book I read and enjoy. - I have loved writing mini reviews for non-arc reads!

Key Positive Takeaways:
~> I still love seeing the stat for new authors to me grow!
~> I have been branching out more genre wise and loving the books! I read more fantasy and historical fiction this quarter.
~> The majority of my books are still from my physical tbr!

Goals for Q4:
1. Read more books off of my physical tbr! - I really wanted 80% of my reads to be off my physical tbr and I’m behind on that goal this year.
2. Read more audiobooks - I need to work out more consistently and this is a great motivation.
3. Read more indie books!

QOTD: What is a goal you have for the rest of the year?

✨A Night of Cozy Mysteries and Local Indie Magic✨

QOTD: Who are some of your favorite cozy mystery authors?

First of all, I am so very blessed to have a fabulous indie bookstore in my town. Thank you @thenextchapterhermiston for hosting such a fun event!

Last night, I got to attend a conversation with Emmeline Duncan (@writeremmelineduncan ) and Tamara Berry (@tamaratamaralucy )! It was so much fun listening to them discuss their friendship, their craft, and the publishing industry.

Then, they brought cozy mystery bingo for us to play and we got to listen to them gab about the different popular cozy mystery tropes! I was lucky enough to be the first bingo of the night and was completely spoiled by these two with a bunch of fun goodies! Thank you both again! 🖤🎄🐢🎅🏻✨

✨NetGalley Shelf Tour: October Update✨

I have been consistently using NetGalley for the last nine months. While I still feel pretty new to using it, my confidence has definitely grown in my reviews!

I started doing these monthly updates in April and I really enjoy updating these graphics and reflecting on the last month of ARCs. I’m really curious what my NetGalley stats will look like at the end of the year!

QOTD: Do we have any in common? Do you have any tips for NetGalley that you’d share with a new bookstagrammer?
