During February, artist Katrina Cowling presented a curated selection titled ‘Embodied Knowledge: Knowing from the Inside'. Included in this selection is 'Yes I Know It Looks Like A Totem', 2010, by Joe Hancock @thisjoehancock

Assemblage sculpture constructed from redundant computer monitors. A secret stockpile of redundant computer equipment was discovered in a dusty locked storeroom in Glasgow School of Art. By asking around, I learned that the equipment was all destined for disposal, yet had been forgotten for a long time. I cut a deal – I could use as much of it as I liked, so long as I disposed of it properly thereafter.

Explore the selected works from the link in our bio, and see more of Joe's work here: https://axisweb.org/artist/joehancock by @thisjoehancock

Manchester School Of Art
MA/MFA Show
***Preview TOMORROW Friday 11th***
6-9pm @ HOME, Manchester

Very excited to be showing in this showcase of Manchester's most recent emerging artists, opening on the city's biggest weekend for art this year!

Also significant on a personal level as my last degree show was destroyed before we finished installation in the 2014 Glasgow School of Art fire.

Open to all, Tue-Sun until 27th October.

INTER-SECTION

Preview TONIGHT 5-7.30pm
Market Gallery, Huddersfield
Exhibition open 26/7 - 3/8

Very pleased to announce I am included in INTER-SECTION, a group show featuring:

Tamina Amadyar - Caroline Achaintre - Matt Calderwood - Allie Carr - Declan Clarke - Layla Curtis (Edgework) - Lisa Denyer - Donal Fitzpatrick - David Kefford & Sarah Evans (Aid&Abet) - Brendan Fletcher - @thisjoehancock - @daleholmesstudio - Jeroen Jacobs - Natasza Niedziółka - Mathew Sawyer - Albrecht Schäfer - Erik Steinbrecher - Tommy Støckel - @katysuggitt – Jill Townsley - Alexander Wagner - @stephen.walter.artist & Calum F Kerr & Reece Jones (TRESPASS) - @simonwoolham & @davidhancock73 (@papergallerymanchester )

I will be showing Drawing Instruments (2019), a series of 14 laser-cut Perspex® stencils made from abstract line drawings into tools for others to draw with. The act of following the shape and form of the original drawings is thought of as a communication from the maker of the original drawing, through the gesture, to the user of the stencil. The author of any drawings made with these stencils might therefore be thought of as a hybrid between the originator and the end user.
