Most people think change begins with information.

It doesn't.

Think about the biggest changes in your life.

Did they happen because someone gave you more facts?

Or because something made you feel?

A heartbreak.

A birth.

A failure.

A laugh.

A loss.

A moment of awe.

A difficult conversation.

A standing ovation.

An unexpected act of kindness.

Information helps us understand.

Emotion helps us move.

Neuroscientists have known for decades that emotion plays a central role in attention, memory and decision-making.

In other words:

We don't remember everything we hear.

We remember what we feel.

The same is true for stories.

For leaders.

For teachers.

For artists.

For anyone trying to create change.

Before people can transform...

they must first feel.

Perhaps that's why laughter matters.

Not because it is pleasant.

But because it makes us accessible.

Accessible to each other.

Accessible to new ideas.

Accessible to ourselves.

What you can't feel, you can't transform.

What is something that changed your life because it made you feel something deeply?

“Simplicity is complexity resolved.”

But first, you have to embrace the mess.

We’re complex creatures, full of contradictions. Maybe the goal isn’t to make things simple, but to understand them well enough to find clarity.

Because starting a story is like walking on stage: excited and terrified, wanting to be seen and wanting to disappear.

Don’t kill one emotion to make room for the other. Tension creates attention. by @thomcock

Sometimes we show houses… but the real magic is in the people we meet along the way. ✨

Thom and I were simply heading out to visit an investment property. What I didn’t know was that I was about to meet a truly extraordinary soul.

Meet @thomcock — from Fall in Laughter. A man with an incredible energy, a beautiful outlook on life.

Selling the home may be the outcome. But for me, the beauty of real estate has always been in the journey — stepping into people’s lives, hearing their stories, discovering what makes them unique, and every now and then, having a client unexpectedly become a friend.

Those are the moments that keep me grateful. Curious. Inspired. And completely in love with what I do.

Because at the end of the day, real estate is about homes…
but it’s really about people. ❤️

And sometimes, you walk into a property viewing and walk out having met someone you’ll never forget.

Avis à tous les bloqués du diaphragme… 😅

One year. No alcohol. No cigarettes. Here's what I saved.

1. €2,190 on cigarettes. (In Portugal)
2. Thousands more on alcohol.
3. Around 7,000 cigarettes I never smoked.
4. Countless "What do you drink?" conversations I never had to navigate.
5. Fewer headaches.
6. Sundays I didn't lose.
7. More sunrises I actually saw.
8. Better sleep.
9. More money for things I chose.
10. One less negotiation with myself every day.

No moral. Not a list of tips.
Just an observation.

Will I do a second year the exact same way?

I'm giving myself a little more time before deciding.
What's sure is that I gained a lot of serenity, peace, and drive.
And these are hard to swap...

With love,

“I have nothing to offer but blood, toil, tears and sweat.”

Okay, wrong Churchill quote. 😂

But there is another one, often attributed to him, that feels particularly relevant here:

“If I am to speak for ten minutes, I need a week to prepare. If an hour, I may begin now.”

And honestly, after 21 days of this challenge, I get it.

@jun_yuh , thank you for throwing us into this incredible challenge, and for sharing your expertise on the perilous art of telling our stories on one of the most competitive networks in the world.

Thank you to your team, Siri, Selin, and everyone else who made this experience so rich. I hope I haven't forgotten anyone. ❤️

This experience unexpectedly took over my summer.

I learned about video, design, Instagram, storytelling, and the social, and almost anthropological experience of putting something out into the world and seeing how people respond.

But more than anything, I met so many wonderful people.

And for this final post, I deliberately chose not to overcorrect my English.

It's not my natural language, and I lose some of my spontaneity when I try too hard to perfect it.

So I'm leaving this one a little raw.

Not because the work doesn't matter.

But because sometimes, keeping your voice matters more than polishing every sentence.

Thank you all for being part of this. This experience went far beyond my expectations. ❤️

At 33, I thought I had more time to figure things out.

I had ideas I never pitched because they didn't feel good enough. A mini bar I almost opened. Projects I left unfinished that somehow kept taking up space in my head.

I've stayed on trains I knew were going the wrong way. I've also stayed too long at the station, waiting for the perfect moment to leave.

And once, I made a good amount of money with crypto. I didn't take it out. I'll let you guess what happened next. 🙃

I've learned that some things can soothe a symptom without touching the need underneath. That life gets distracting, almost as if it's testing whether you really want what you say you want.

And that perfect timing is often just another name for a decision we're afraid to make.

Writing this for my younger self, my future self, and anyone who might need these reminders too.

What would you tell your 33-year-old self?

At 30, I woke up in an ambulance.

A few hours earlier, I’d been sleepwalking. Somehow, that episode triggered an unusual electrical event in my brain. I fell, hit the back of my head on the bedside table, lost consciousness, started convulsing, and apparently donated a fairly unreasonable amount of blood to the bedroom floor.

My ex-girlfriend’s quick reaction saved my life.

The diagnosis came afterwards: epilepsy.

Which is a slightly strange thing to discover at 30. At first, you want to deny it. Then, if you let yourself accept it, something unexpected happens: relief.

Because suddenly, some things that had seemed impossible to understand or fix started to make sense.

The first tests were inconclusive, and the first medication wasn’t the right one. It came with memory problems, which was particularly inconvenient when your brain is already being difficult.

Eventually, I found the right treatment. The sleepwalking stopped. I could finally sleep properly. And that gave me the space to change other things: my habits, my relationship with alcohol and cigarettes, my routines, the way I listened to my body, and the way I understood my own mind.

Twelve years later, I’m still learning.

But I no longer see my brain as something I have to fight or be ashamed of. I see it as something I need to understand, maintain, and occasionally stop Googling at 2 a.m.

These are the lessons I wish I’d had at 25—not because they would have prevented everything, but because they might have helped me meet myself with a little less fear and a lot more curiosity.

And if you’re going through something similar: you’re not necessarily broken. You may simply be missing a few pages of the manual.

These are the 21 sentences
that helped me grow the most.

All of them uncomfortable.

The kind of questions you’d rather avoid until you’re finally able to answer them.
And once I could, they genuinely changed the way I lived.

I’m writing them here as a manifesto, so I can come back to them whenever I need to.

And hopefully, they’ll help someone else too.

Which one speaks to you the most?

If you like these sentences and want more of them, follow @thomcock

These three are the heart of @fall.in.laugh :
10. Joy is practice.
11. Laughter is a micro-decision.
12. Happiness is the sum of your micro-decisions.

They’re not just ideas I like.
They’re the motto of Fall in Laugh, and the result of applying them every day.

I didn’t read these books
because I wanted to become a better person.
I read them because, at different points in my life, I needed something.

A reason to laugh.
A way to stop being so hard on myself.
A reminder that not everything deserves my energy.
A way to turn painful things into stories.
A way to understand why the messiest chapters might still belong in the book.

1. Laugh for No Reason was probably the one that changed my life the most.
It made me wonder what would happen if I stopped waiting to feel like laughing… and simply started.
That little idea eventually became Fall in Laugh.

2. Brené Brown taught me that perfectionism has much deeper roots than I thought — and somehow made shame feel a little less shameful.

3. Mark Manson gave me the Disappointing Panda, the Law of Avoidance, and a very useful reminder:
you don't have to give a fuck about everything.

4. Comedy Writing Secrets taught me to look at my own disasters differently.
Maybe the embarrassing thing wasn't just embarrassing.
Maybe it was material.

5. Save the Cat! made me look at my own life like a story, with conflict, shitty chapters, unexpected turns and, hopefully, some character development.

So yes.
These books made me laugh & cry.
And somehow, a better human.
If you're going through a chapter where you could use a little more laughter, perspective, or simply a different way of looking at your own story…
start with one of these.
