*Cornell 57! That incident is just one of countless cases of rape and gang rape that reflective of the pervasiveness of rape culture in this country and worldwide. This is an opportunity to speak to teen boys and young men who’ve never been taught fundamental respect for women and girls.

*CORRECTION - I was wrong for saying ā€œyes you can feel angryā€ (upon rejection) what I meant was that a young man may feel disappointed, but that js not saying he is owed access to someone’s body. If rejection brings up anger, he needs to examine the beliefs and expectations behind that anger rather than treating it as justified or make it her responsibility.

I say all this as a husband, father, to two lil girls, a son, nephew, brother, grandson, cousin, friend, and community member to the women and girls closest to me, as well as to those I have never met and never will meet around the world.

Man, feel free to add to this.

Men, we need to stop what we're doing and start addressing the crisis of sexual assault against women, children, and two-spirit people.

As a bystander, if someone is being pressured, intoxicated, isolated, touched without consent, mocked for saying no, or unable to make a clear decision—step in. Get help. Get them home safely. Do not protect behavior that harms people just because the person doing it is your friend.

Feel free to share.

O’Odham men’s club June 2026

ā€œSome of you have yet to endure the hardest things that you’ll ever endure. Myself included.ā€

Who else thinks of this when they move? This might be a dramatic statement by people who don’t regularly move, and thus can’t imagine it. It’s not just about improving physical performance and not even just about improving longevity.

Fitness and movement in general is just one way I fortify my resilience. Other lifeways rooted in love, empathy, and gratitude are also acknowledged.

Here’s a few appropriate clips of our last O’Odham men’s club revitalizing our traditional O’Odham war club for a new purpose. All of these men and boys around from around the four different O’Odham communities. Many of us are mixed, with other lineages and different native nations. It may look like look like an intertribal or public event but it’s not. I only share here to inspire other native men to do the same in their communities. The purposes is rooted in healing from degradation of total health and identity caused by colonial strife. And to revitalize, preserve what we have and evolve the roles of indigenous manhood in our family and community.

It’s been gratifying to watch many of these men show up each time and grow with this physical movement. We’re now at a point where the men can lightly spar. That’s something I’m very proud to see, because a few years ago this was just an idea I had while training with the club by myself — in this exact area where the group photo was taken. Having a vision can be a powerful process, and watching it come to life is truly empowering.

READ CAPTION BEFORE COMMENTING

Quit calling me a warrior. I’m not a warrior, thats a very serious term. I do not go to war.

After a lifetime of fitness and movement, I’ve arrived at the conclusion that there are 3 main interconnected aspects of life I’ve been training for. I call them Three Lifelong Vision circles. Movement is a ceremony to give thanks for this life and for the health we have in this moment. Movement should support long-term health and align with how one wants to think, feel, and act in the future. Movement should enhance our current lifestyles, not detract from them. They’re not presented as bullet points or in a linear fashion. This is a non-hierarchical vision, and they’re inextricably connected in a circular fashion. They exist in consciousness (spirit). I’m writing more in-depth about this and how others can use this framework in my forthcoming book, being published by the amazing Harper Collins. Set to come out late next year.

All self-filmed and edited. No sped of footage filmed high frame rate.

I’ve been posting fitness here on IG since 2012. I didn’t just get like this. I’ve just never stopped training. It’s unfortunate to see so many people who don’t believe you could be in shape in your mid 40’s. People will say anything to excuse their lack of discipline for not having health and fitness literacy to get in or stay in shape.

As always, I’m sharing to inspire. It had been a while since I was able to make time to get outside and train with the club. This is on my family’s land on the Rez, where my wife Chelsey and I will break ground for our custom home later this year.

O’odham men, mark your calendars for the next gathering on May 17th. More details later.

Thank you all for the kind and lovely wishes. I appreciate your support.

I’m only as well as I am because of the people in my circle, such as my wife, 3 kids, my mom and dad, and the community that raised me in Salt River.

WHAT I TRAINED THIS WEEK

With my schedule getting significantly busier this past year, I don’t train 5 days a week as often as I used to. This past week, I made time for 5 solid sessions. We had lots of family in around this week while the kids were off school for fall break and doing activities.

All self-filmed and edited. I enjoy the production aspect of creating this content.

Usually, over 8-10 days, I aim for 2 sessions focused on power, strength, or strength endurance, 1 sprint day, and, depending on time, I’ll sprinkle in kickboxing at home or at a fight gym and 1 jog day.

Monday: basic total body strength with focus on lower body
Barefoot shoes by Vivo PRIMUS FLOW @vivobarefoot
Shorts by @tenthousand.cc
T-shirt KYFS Staple T (see merch link in bio)

Recently, I had the chance to speak at the Summer Speaker Series hosted by SR Community Manager Lena Jackson. This is on my rez, Salt River. These are some thoughts regarding O’odham ha’icu T-huk (O’odham foodways) as they pertain to s-toakut (health and wellness). These ideas are relevant to O’odham and Piipaash in Gila River, Ak-Chin, Tohono O’odham Nation, and Hia’ed O’odham, and, to some degree, to all other Native Nations. This is part of my main work as a community health educator. Our wellness model, The Seven Circles, is also part of various community efforts to improve the health and well-being of SR People. I wanted to share to inform.

Also on the panel was @n8vktcn and @shanabanana68 both doing great work with bringing knowledge and access to healthy O’Odham foodways to O’Odham people across the different O’Odham communities. Check out there work!

S-keg masig tasĢ£ m-wui Wakinyan Tokahe ck ñ-je’e. Hegam o s’ap uḑ u’uvi! Happy Birthday to Wakinyan Tokahe, First Thunder!

Chelsey, also known to some as Wakinyan Tokahe - First Thunder, is an amazing woman, and all who have the pleasure of knowing her up close agree with this.

I am incredibly blessed to walk hand in hand with her through this beautiful journey of life. She deserves every blessing the world has to offer and so much more. At this time we’re enjoying the release of her latest book NATIVE HOME - The Ancestral Art of Creating Healing Spaces, published by @harpercollins I am in awe of her brilliance and creativity. Despite the pressures of raising children and meeting deadlines, she continues to produce extraordinary work.

It’s no coincidence that my wife’s and my mom’s birthdays are one day apart. They are both great women, and I am honored to be connected to them. I honor both my mom and my wife for always showing what true, undying love is. Your influence shines brightly and touches all those connected to you in a positive way. My thoughts and emotions are greater than my words, but these are the best of them.

May Natakam help you continue to attract much love, good health and success!

Many thanks to all of you who attended Chelsey’s first two book events.

We will be in TULSA, OK, on Oct 11th for the Cherokee Nation Art Market at the Hard Rock Hotel. She will give an author presentation and book signing as part of the Magic City Books pop-up shop at the Market at 12:30pm. Please join us if you’re there. by @thosh.collins

This week’s focus is on building FIRE POWER for life!

I took a page from @nooch_13's book and did his drill using the bench and another with the landmine chop.

I used the Spann bar by @collisspann and performed some explosive overhead presses plus step-back movements created by @landmineuniversity.

Lately, I’ve been starting my explosive power sessions with a few rounds on the wrecking ball and Thai bag to get the nervous system firing. However, I reserve the more explosive output for the main training session, which focuses on force application that translates to sprinting, kicking, and jumping for various uses—from sports to everyday life.

I don’t speed up footage! It’s filmed at 30fps and exported at 23 fps for a choppy cinematic look. All my content is self filmed color corrected and edited. I love the production aspect of creating content around Fitness.

I trained both the glycolytic and lactic acid anaerobic energy systems here.

At 44, remaining elastic, explosive, agile, and fast is most important to me. I train strength endurance once or twice a week and focus on absolute strength only once a quarter.

I put the Tracker Textile II by @vivobarefoot through an Rez Gym workout. They check out.

Just like the Earth Gym, Rez Gym is about getting out of the comforts of a gym to challenge the nervous system and make use of your creativity. Both spaces teach that what truly matter is your knowledge of movement patterns and energy systems that will allow you put together a productive set, rather than the modality or tools. This is why I don’t put emphasis on equipment. I’ll use whatever’s around, even if it’s bodyweight only.

Block 1
Telephone Pole Jerk
Farmer Walk

Block 2
Telephone Pole Zercher Lunge
Lizard Crawl
Tire & Sledgehammer

Block 3
Tire Flip
Sled Pull
60 Yard Sprint

All self-filmed and edited. 2 cameras and a self-flying drone used.

Building Fire Power for Jumping, Kicking, and Sprinting

Save this one and give it a run on your next explosive power day. I’d say this is a good one for sprinters and fighters, especially stand-up fighters, or anyone who just wants to switch up their movement regimen to build more explosive power. You don’t necessarily need to be an athlete to train this way. It’s a fun and gratifying way to train. Just make sure to have a strong base in knee- and hip-dominant movements like back squats, split squats, trap bar deadlifts, kettlebell swings, and some form of snatch.

I also think there are great benefits to training your agility and speed via plyometrics as you age. You don’t need to do the advanced ones I’m doing, but basic variations of pogo hops and some simple changes of direction, once or twice a week, are all you need. As we age, we lose elasticity unless we train it. As you age, you also want to keep your balance strong. It’s about building habits now, before you reach an age where falling could result in months of debilitation that sometimes causes an elderly person’s health to decline faster than usual.

Also, the calf muscles are very efficient at taking up circulating glucose. There is strong evidence to support that. Though plyometrics train the connective tissue more, the calf muscles are still getting stimulus (yes, even if your calves look like Channel 11, like mine).

As always, fitness and movement are just one way to build our fire for health, longevity, and character that can transfer to other aspects of life. The grit we build during training builds our overall mental and emotional capacity, making us more resilient when we’re faced with times of adversity. If you haven’t yet faced the hardest obstacle in life, I can guarantee you will one day. It’s about giving yourself the tools you’ll need to overcome.

Little House on the Prairie is an iconic American franchise, and while this reboot tells the unfortunate truth of early American colonialism, it’s important that Native and Black stories are portrayed accurately

Media has always shaped public perception of history, and in many cases it’s done real damage to Native and Black histories. So when Native stories are part of telling America’s story, its important that real Native people play these roles, and that Indigenous cultural consultants are properly included, like in this production.

This isn’t ā€œasking for a seat at the table.ā€ I don’t seek validation from mainstream society. But when I’m invited, I have the agency to accept or respectfully decline —and this time, I accepted the invite to audition. I’m Osage on my maternal side, so getting to portray an Osage man on screen, with support from our own cultural knowledge keepers and with native directors like @sydneyfreeland and @ericajtremblay is a good thing.

If Native people opt out of these productions, the story still gets told, just without us shaping how our own people are represented. Someone plays Osage in this either way. I’d rather it be an actual Osage person, with Osage consultants on set, than leave that power in someone else’s hands.

Congrats to the cast, for many this is a breakthrough. I’m excited for them and for the doors this might open for them, especially for the child actors in this show.

Did you catch glimpses of our war party going in after Galloo on @it_official episode 4? I hope we get to see the full episode on that. Great job to the cast for making those emotions show through without dialogue. @kimberlynorrisguerrero and @joshuaodjickofficial are crushing it on screen in this series and reppin for Native actors.

The idea of a psionic asset working for the military in this series is actually based on actual events. Look up MKULTRA and the Stargate Project, both declassified and well-documented. They were among several military and intelligence programs that used psionic (psychic) assets to gather intelligence. Some sources say they’re still used in certain contexts. Apparently, Stephen King was fascinated with these concepts and wrote them into his novels and screenplays. Very cool!

@tazbah directed this flashback scene and she crushed it! So proud. by @thosh.collins
