🏖️☀️⛱️It is time for SUMMER READING! Summer is such a wonderful time to sit by the pool or at the beach and dive into a great book.
⛱️
My 2026 Summer Reading Guide releases today!
🏖️
What is on it?
🏖️
The guide is an 18-page printable document that contains over 45 reading recommendations including books mainly from spring and summer 2026 and some fall most anticipated reads. I am particularly excited for this guide because an incredible number of fabulous books are coming out this year, and I have included so many good ones on my guide. I have read a plethora of books and sampled countless more to find the ones that really resonated with me and that I can personally recommend for this guide. Not every book is for every reader, so I have included a quick summary and what I liked about the particular book to give you some guidance about whether it would be a good fit for you. While a few of the books on the guide you may see frequently on Bookstagram or on other lists, I include a bunch on the guide that are not – I love highlighting under-the-radar gems, stellar debuts, and books you do not see everywhere.
☀️
Please fill out this form in my linktree to indicate which form of payment (a tip in the amount of your choosing because I don’t want the price to be an issue for anyone) you will use to receive the 2026 Summer Reading Guide. Once the payment is verified I will send the PDF to the email address provided. I so appreciate the support - these guides take countless hours to prepare.
☀️
If you pre-ordered it or are a paying Patreon member, I sent those out this morning.
⛱️
Thanks so much everyone for your support and Happy Reading!

🎉📚🎙️As the 5th anniversary for my Thoughts from a Page podcast approaches, I want to thank everyone who has helped make the show what it is today. When I began podcasting during COVID, I had no idea what a joyful and time consuming project it would be! I have been introduced to tons of fabulous books, and my reading has benefited as a result. And I have connected with so many delightful people – authors, readers, booksellers, publicists, and other book reviewers, and my life has been much enriched as a result. I am eternally thankful.
🎉
Over the years, the show has evolved. Currently, I run:
🎙️
•One author interview a week where I chat with authors about their books that I feel are standouts. These are spoiler-free so you can listen before or after you read the book.
•Monthly episodes with @kellyhook.readsbooks of our much-listened-to Real Time Reading episodes where we catch up about everything related to our recent and current reads.
•Quarterly episodes with Kelly where we highlight our favorite reads for that quarter.
•Quarterly episodes with @blurb_your_enthusiasm and @pamelaklingerhorn1 where they discuss upcoming favorites for the next season - these are very popular!
📚
The podcast is a passion project – each episode takes many hours to produce. I review the book pitches, read many books to see what I want to highlight, prepare for the interviews and then finalize the episodes (with help from my fabulous editor @soniviastudios) as well as prepare everything else to post the episodes.
🎙️
Thank you so much to everyone who contributes to my Patreon as well as those who make one time contributions on Venmo, PayPal and Buy Me a Coffee. Without this financial help as well as the ads on my show, I would not be able to keep producing the show so I truly am forever grateful.
🎙️
And most importantly, thank you for listening – without you there would be no need for me to make the podcast! Thanks too for spreading the word and sharing on social media – word of mouth is the best way for new people to find me.
🎧

For my September 2026 Buzz Reads column for @thebuzzmagazines, I chose:
🪾
The Birthing Tree by Amanda Peters – Peters explores the importance of maintaining a connection to one’s heritage, the effects of secrets and trauma that ripple down through future generations, and the impacts of grief. It’s a great fit for fans of literary fiction and stories with a strong sense of place.
🐎
Fallen for France by Elizabeth Letts – Spanning Morocco and France during World War 1, Fallen for France follows unforgettable characters bound together by a beautiful horse. Readers who love a strong sense of place and learning about lesser known events in history will love Fallen for France. I am thrilled to be hosting her for my literary salon in January here in VA.
🎭
The Silent Appeal by Janice Hallett – In The Silent Appeal, the Fairway Players of Lower Lockwood are staging Agatha Christie’s The Hollow, when someone is murdered. Hallett brings the reader along on this quest, slowly revealing details of the crime, including who died. Fans of engaging and humorous mysteries as well as the mixed media format will enjoy this one.
☀️
Sunlight Finds You by Laura Moriarty - In 1949 St. Petersburg, Florida, teens Nora and Leonard experience first love but are soon torn apart. Years later, Nora is relaying their story to the reader with the benefit of hindsight and to help herself come to terms with everything that happened. Sunlight Finds You will appeal to fans of character-driven stories, outstanding historical fiction, and elevated writing.
🇦🇶
Under Story by Chloe Benjamin – In Under Story, Benjamin explores grief, science, guilt, memory, the natural world, time, and much more, and this epic saga wrestles with important modern-day questions: the impact of human hubris, the vulnerability of the natural world, and consciousness and connectivity. It will appeal to fans of inventive premises, timely stories, and a strong sense of place and is a fabulous book club choice.

UPCOMING AUTHOR EVENT - I am thrilled that our literary salon is hosting Ethan Joella here in the Richmond/Midlothian area on September 14th from 5-7 p.m. If you are not already on the list and want to attend, fill out the Google Form in my linktree, and I will get you added to the invite. THE TOP OF THE WORLD is one of my top reads of 2026, and Ethan is very engaging so this will be a great event; it is also a fun way to meet other readers and book lovers. We would love to have you! Thanks to @fountainbookstore for selling the books!
📚
Told in dual perspectives, THE TOP OF THE WORLD opens in 1974 as Maggie Bishop is searching for answers about her brother Chip's final days after he abandoned medical treatments for one last summer at a mountaintop resort in the Poconos. As she retraces his steps, Joella crafts a moving story about memory, sibling relationships, the power of human connection, grief, and second chances. I loved the Poconos mountaintop resort setting and the nostalgic vibe that brought to the story as well as the 1970s time period – the music, the movies, and what was happening in the world. This is a quick but powerful read, and I am still thinking about long after I finished it. Readers who love compelling dramas, a strong sense of place, and stories about human connection will devour this one.
📚
Thanks so much to @christine_k_shepard for sponsoring this salon. Christine is a consistent Top Producer with Joyner Fine Properties. She not only brings her real estate expertise to the table with each transaction, but over two and a half decades of experience in residential renovation and design. This, coupled with Christine's desire to help each client find their 'safe place to fall' at the end of the day, is what enables Christine to create a very tailored and personalized approach through the buying and selling process. She helped us find our home that we love so much, and I cannot recommend her enough! Check out her Instagram account or her website: www.christineshepardrealestate.com.

The setting plays such a strong role in this one, which is something I really enjoy in a book. Where does your current read take place? taken in Midlothian, Virginia by @thoughtsfromapage

#FridayReads What is everyone reading? I am 2/3rds of the way through listening to Sunrise by Tea Obreht. It is a strange read, and I'm so curious to see how it ends. It came out this week. I am just starting The Fox of Kensal Green by Richard Tyrrell and so far I'm really enjoying it. It will be out in February. I am about 10 pages into Fallow by Sarah Anderson, and it comes out in September. The premise is intriguing (thanks @whatsherrireads for my copy!). My last three reads were phenomenal, and I hope that trend will continue.

Each month @kellyhook.readsbooks and I record a Real Time Reading episode where we chat about what we have read recently, what we are currently reading, and what's up next as well as new book mail and some books that didn't work quite as well. I always add some books to my list as we chat. July's episode posted today and some of the books we discuss are pictured above. Kelly and I both talk about some engaging recent reads. Tune in to hear all about what's worked, what's upcoming, and one or two that were not big hits. You can find the Thoughts from a Page podcast on any podcast platform or on my website thoughtfromapage.com.

This quarter has some amazing book club picks and many of these titles will land on my best of the year list.

What have been some of your favorite recent reads?

I have thoroughly enjoyed seeing all of the mid-year posts highlighting people's favorites so far for 2026. It has been a phenomenal reading year for me - I have read and loved tons of books publishing this year, and these are my favorites so far. I didn't stop at mid-year, instead I brought together my favorites that publish anytime this year. I've still got lots more to read and hope the stellar trend continues.
