Good evening, watchfam! A few impressions from my Boutique visit last weekend. At 42mm, these wear incredibly well on the wrist and look even better in person. I’m really enjoying this new addition to Panerai‘s current line up. It feels like a very natural evolution of the iconic Bettarini case while staying true to its unmistakable character. Hey Risti, good evening watchfam, today I want to look at PANERAI from a slightly different angle. In my last post, I shared my personal journey through three watches and the role the PANERISTI played along the way. This time, I want to focus on what started all of this in the first place: THE WATCHES ! Without these watches, without this unmistakable design, there would be no community. We wear Panerai in everyday life, at work, on vacation, at GTGs and, of course, at the P-Days. We talk about them, hunt them, photograph them, compare them, celebrate them. Wristshot, tableshot, pocketshot. BUT not only the old ones ! This post is about exactly that. A bridge across 33 years of time. From the Ref. 5218-201/A, introduced in September 1993, to the Firenze Edition PAM1794 from September 2026. The 5218/201 A truly is my personal vintage grail. And I found it where a watch like this belongs: within the Paneristi community. Because some watches are not simply bought. They are found through relationships, trust, shared passion and years of being part of something. And then there is the PAM1794. A current Panerai, but unmistakably connected to where it all came from. That is what fascinates me. Vintage will always be special. But vintage is not dead history. Vintage is alive. The Panerais we wear today are the vintage refs of tomorrow. And maybe one day our children will not only inherit some of our watches. Maybe they will inherit the passion too. Maybe they will become the Paneristi of the future, create their own memories, meet their own friends and continue this story in their own way. For me, that is the real connection. The community. The product. The object of desire. And a design language that evolves without forgetting its roots. That is also why I like the first picture of this series. Two crown guards touching. Almost like two generations shaking hands. 33 years apart. One DNA. One passion. One community. Sempre Panerai. Hey Watchfam, today I want to share three watches and three very personal stories. A little more text than usual today and maybe even more important than the pictures. So grab a coffee, stick around and keep reading. For me, this post represent what Panerai is also about: passion, friendship and an incredible community. Let’s start with the PAM127 — THE FIDDY More than ten years ago or so, I started an international hunt for a 2002 Fiddy. At one point, I was offered this exact watch, except the “seller” only had the pictures, not the watch ! Thanks to the knowledge of the Paneristi community, I discovered the scam and, by pure coincidence, found the real owner in a forum. In the end, I bought the watch from him and we stayed in touch for many years afterwards. Sometimes I still wonder if he regrets selling it. PAM172 — THE TANTALIUM Some time after the Fiddy arrived, one thing was clear: I wanted a Tantalium. This material and its color ! Unique. What followed was a ten-year search without any success. Then, out of nowhere, a good friend and fellow Paneristi made the connection. Without him, this deal would never have happened. And thanks to GTGs, PDays and this community, something else happened along the way: I fell in love with vintage Panerai. Me — the guy who always said: “Vintage Panerai? Not my thing…” THE PAM 5218/201A About two years ago, I knew I wanted vintage. But I learned something: Sometimes you don’t find the watch. The watch finds you. The 201A suddenly appeared in one of our Paneristi WhatsApp groups. I had never actively searched for one, but immediately knew: If vintage, then this one ! I knew the seller personally from many PDays. Complete trust, wonderful conversations and a perfect deal. Looking at these three watches today, I realize it’s not really about the watches. It’s about the people behind them. A community that saved me from a scam. A friend who ended a ten-year search. And a Paneristi who passed on a very special watch. That’s what makes them priceless to me. Paneristi. Passion. Friendship. This community rocks. Good evening, watchfam Today, I’m sharing something truly special with you. The Panerai Boutique in Florence is celebrating its 100th anniversary. To mark this incredible milestone, two limited special editions have just been unveiled today. I had the opportunity to photograph one of them. The PAM01794. I have to say, I’m pretty impressed. Today, I’m exploring something a little different: “real” photography and everything that comes after it. Digital editing. AI. And the increasingly blurry line in between. This series today is deliberately a little provocative, but I’m curious what you think: Is everything that comes after pressing the shutter a lie? Hey watchfam, The other day, I took some time to scroll through my grid and noticed something interesting: I actually miss my Sony and the 100mm STF. More than that, I suddenly felt a real urge to shoot a series with this camera and lens combo again. Over the past few months, I’ve absolutely loved and appreciated the flexibility of the Q3, but today’s series somehow feels like going back to my roots. Can you relate? And more importantly, can you actually see what I mean in these shots? On the wrist today is the Flyback PAM212, paired with probably my only truly vintage strap. This strap is like a fine wine… it just keeps getting better with age. Hey watchfam, and one last carousel for this insanely cool watch on this strap. And a little something to kick things off with a smile. I’ve seen a lot of posts about minimalism over the last few days, and while I was shooting these images I kept thinking about that idea… I’m usually someone who prefers to strip things down anyway, no unnecessary props, just the essentials. And here, the real star isn’t even the watch. It’s that inflated air mattress creating these incredible flowing reflections and gradients. Almost like a sculptural car body, shaped by light and tension. There’s something fascinating about how such a simple, almost banal object can suddenly become something completely different once you stop looking at what it actually is and start looking only at its shapes, surfaces and the way it catches the light. A true master on choosing supercool backgrounds is Heikki aka @hvwatchphoto. Check out his grid ! And maybe that’s exactly what I like about minimalism in photography. Taking things away until there’s nothing left to distract you. No elaborate setup, no story being forced onto the image, just form, light, texture and the watch. Sometimes less really does give you more to look at, and sometimes it doesn’t 😆 Anyway, hope you enjoy this last round with this combination as much as I enjoyed shooting it. Good evening, watchfam! Fresh back from vacation, my first stop took me straight to the Panerai Boutique, where I had the chance to photograph this beauty: the new Luminor Marina Carbotech. It looks absolutely fantastic on the wrist. Pure Panerai DNA combined with Carbotech, a seriously cool combination. I like it a lot, and at the same time I’m quite happy that it’s not becoming dangerous for me. My personal Black Beauty No.1 remains last year’s 5218. Nevertheless, this is a great watch and definitely worth checking out in person! Hey watchfam, Taking the 5218 for a swim today. I keep coming back to the feeling that Panerai got pretty much everything right with this watch. What do you guys think? I’m always fascinated by what happens in the details with these water shots, the way light refracts and creates some seriously wild distortions, or the incredible play of reflections dancing across the surface.
