Introducing the FREE Yoga for Hikers virtual practice 🧘🏻‍♀️✨

Join me and @thru_r on the last Sunday of each month for a laid back virtual yoga practice for hikers. As a thru-hiker and yoga teacher, I’m excited to blend these two passions together.

No props are required, and you can practice wherever feels comfortable as long as you have an internet connection. Our practice will take place via Zoom at 7pm EST.

Since we've converted our hiking community to a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, we wanted to introduce you to the people behind the scenes. All are thru-hikers and...we thought we'd give a little teaser before official introductions 😂. They definitely look like leadership material to us!

Welcome to Colorado ✨🌨️🏔️

Land of thunder snow and rainbows, golden aspens and summits crowned with clouds. We’re 1900 miles into a journey across the divide. Most days I rise up to the challenge, and many I fall into the rhythm of a pace I set long ago. Gone are the slow mornings and late sunsets as autumn takes the torch from summer’s grasp.

How does one speed up when the soul wants to wind down? Colorado has a lot to teach me about drawing from the well of resilience and dancing in the rain and letting the sweet support of others lift me above the inversions. I thank my lucky stars that we are able to walk each other home. And on the days I don’t walk at all, I hold these fleeting moments so close to my heart they intertwine like fingertips resisting an inevitable goodbye. taken in Continental Divide Trail by @thru_r

We couldn’t make it to Fashion Week.

Probably because our finest looks involve sun-faded shirts, suspiciously short shorts, filthy socks, hiker-box accessories and at least one item held together with Leukotape.

But that doesn’t mean we can’t serve a look. ✨

We’re out here whimsy blazing with ribbon wands, ukeleles, and a whole lot of @adornglitter. The trail is a serendipitous blend of folks following a funkadelic footpath across the country in whatever ways they see fit. And me? 🎙️ LIVE FROM PCT DAYS: PART 1 IS HERE!

What happens when you put a microphone in front of a bunch of thru-hikers and ask them the same four questions?

You get four very different answers. ❤️

For our first-ever live recordings from Pacific Crest Trail Days in Cascade Locks, Oregon, host "Cheer" got into it with "Sparkle", "MacGyver", "Def Pos" + "Pitch Perfect" to talk about the experiences that have shaped their time on trail.

One is attempting to break records.
One is a PCT alum looking back.
One experienced a tumultuous, but deeply spiritual, section hike.
And one gives us their perspective on the PCT vs. the CDT.

We asked each hiker:

🥾 What’s a moment from your hike you’ll always remember?
💪 What was harder than you expected?
✨ What was easier (or better) than you expected?
🌲 How has the trail changed you?

And, as you might imagine, the answers went far beyond hiking.

This is exactly why we love talking to hikers + sharing their stories. Everyone walks the same dirt, but no two people experience it in quite the same way.

Day 1 (sort of) - Started the day before in Maryland, driving until I stopped for the night in Western West Virginia, crossing over the Kentucky line in the morning. After paying a visit to the Bourbon County Visitor’s center and discovering hiking the Bourbon Trail wasn’t actually feasible due to no shoulders on the back roads and very difficult to navigate on foot via the highways, I decided to go with a new hiking plan after visiting @hartfieldandco , making friends with Waylon Jennings (the cat 🐈‍⬛ 🤠). Upon discovering the first place I was going to spend the night only rent sites on Thursdays and Fridays, it was off to find a campsite elsewhere and get ready for the next day. Always good to stay flexible and leave a little room for serendipity. 🤠🇺🇸 @thru_r #getoutside #travel #soloadventure by @thru_r

At PCT Days, I sat down with hikers for live recordings of The Thru-Hiking Podcast at the @obozfootwear booth - and heard some incredible stories from trail.

We asked hikers:

🥾 What’s one moment from this trail you’ll remember for the rest of your life?

💪 What’s been harder than you expected?

✨ What’s been better than you expected?

🏔️ Has the trail changed you?

Because thru-hiking is about so much more than getting from Mexico to Canada.

It’s the people you meet. The days that break you down. The moments that build you back up. The ridiculous things that happen when you’ve been living outside for months. And the version of yourself you meet somewhere along the way.
