Ha Long Bay, Vietnam

There is a deep, ancient silence that settles over you when you glide across Ha Long Bay.

In Vietnamese, “Ha Long” translates to “Descending Dragon.” Lore says that when this nation was young and facing invasion from the sea, the gods sent a Mother Dragon and her children to protect the land. Instead of fire, they scattered thousands of emeralds and jades across the water. Those celestial gems solidified, instantly creating a labyrinth of towering stone islands that shielded the coast and brought peace to the realm.
Passing through these emerald waters today, you can still feel that protective stillness.
