Kent✿♡ You entered my life so suddenly. And in ways we both did not expect. You reminded me of the small sparks in myself that I had let get lost a long time ago. You re-wrote my love and trust in interpersonal relationships, & heavy reminded me that on my worst days I am still worth every hard moment, every hard talk, and the reminder that someone can fiercely love and respect me as the person that always deserved that. You showed up for me when I felt unlovable and lost and reminded me of all the magic this world has to offer. You never once judged me, but you offered me so much kindness, grace, patience and a safe space when I had none. You will always be someone important to me, & I'm forever grateful for your constant reminder that I am capable, I am beautiful and I am so strong, and every day I spent laughing with you is forever a reminder of how magical a person can be. You are a role model for me, and someone I strive to be more like everyday. How much I admire your drive and fight to never give up. How truly talented, gifted, loving, kind, safe, gentle, someone can be. Im proud of you and how you navigate life. I adore every part of your beautiful soul, and you have taught me so much I didn't even know I needed to learn. Thank you for not being afraid to call me on my shit, guide me back to the light and my creative side again, and truly be a friend that also wasn't afraid to tell me what I needed to hear. There are few feelings quite like watching a piece you’ve poured your heart into find its home.🥹🥹 We’re so grateful that Tina was the successful bidder on our painting at the June 29 fundraiser in support of Nancy Bepple’s campaign, and even more touched to hear she’s thrilled to have it. Jess and I created this piece through a process of surrender and newfound collaboration... letting gravity, colour, and curiosity guide us instead of trying to control every detail. It became a reminder that some of the most beautiful things emerge when we make space for them. Knowing it now gets to become part of someone else’s daily life is one of the greatest gifts an artist can receive. We’re also incredibly grateful for Nancy Bepple’s ongoing support of the arts in Kamloops and for creating opportunities like this that connect local artists with our community. Thank you, Tina, for giving this painting its new home. 🏔️ Two Rivers, Two Mountains 🏔️ Inspired by the landscapes of Tk̓emlúps, this piece marks the beginning of a new creative chapter for me, and a collaboration with my friend, Jess. We inspired each other to rediscover the joy of creating by letting go of perfectionism and trusting the process. This painting was created using my new Glacializing technique. I began by melting ice over tie-dye pigments, allowing gravity, fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, and time to become collaborators in the artwork. Rather than trying to control every mark, I create the conditions for the painting to emerge and discover what nature reveals. As a recovering perfectionist, this process has completely transformed the way I approach creativity. Instead of forcing an outcome, I become a collaborator with the natural forces that shape it. I then built depth into the river and sky using acrylic medium infused with shimmering mica pigments, creating textures that shift and catch the light from different angles. Finally, Jess brought her incredible tattoo artist’s eye to the piece, using acrylic paint pens to discover and define the mountain forms hidden within the flowing pigments. It was also her beautiful idea to bring the sky to life by adding the glowing moon and the Northern Lights beneath UV light, giving the landscape another layer of wonder to be discovered. During the day, the painting is a peaceful mountain landscape inspired by Tk̓emlúps. As the light changes, different pigments and textures emerge. Under UV light, the moon awakens and the Northern Lights dance across the canvas, inviting the viewer to experience the landscape with a little bit of magic. I love the idea that the painting is never exactly the same twice. Just like the landscape itself, it reveals different parts of its story depending on the light, the time of day, and the perspective of the person looking at it. Thank you, Jess,for reminding me how joyful collaboration can be. H A Y L E Y ♡ THANK YOU for everything. Thank you for being someone I didnt even know i needed. Thank you for the late nights, the laughs, the pool hangs.. Thank you for taking care of me AND Olive ♡ you made me excited to go home, and comforted knowing you were just a few steps away. You taught me how to get better, and how to be better. And ive never known a safer space or a safer human that loves me and all my lil flaws.
