Getting hurt in my race is the absolute last thing I could’ve expected. In my first season of track I have accomplished more than I ever could’ve imagined and prayed for. I’m so grateful to have gotten the opportunity to represent team Canada, although it’s not how I wanted it to go I was able to get here at such a young age and in such little time and that’s what counts.Thank you to the @athleticscanada staff for making this trip memorable and my coaches for helping and believing in me. For anyone thinking that it’s too late to start, it never really is. Watch out yall… I’ll be back.#comebackseason #team🇨🇦 #queent @questsportscanada by @thy_queentt

A NEW JUNIOR NATIONAL CHAMPION HAS ARRIVED 👑

Tia Porteous of Quest Sports T.F.C. stunned the field to become the 2026 Canadian U20 Women’s 100m Champion at the Canadian Track & Field Championships in Ottawa.

What a wonderful surprise this was! With defending champion Jorai Oppong-Nketiah sidelined for the remainder of the season, everyone knew a new national champion would be crowned. The only question was: Who would it be?

The field was wide open, featuring several favourites and more than a few dark horses, making it one of the most unpredictable races of the weekend. After the preliminary round, which was contested in pouring rain, Tia found herself sitting in third, a solid position, but with work still to do heading into the final. When the gun went off, Tia exploded out of the blocks and settled into the race. Through the first half, she remained just behind the leaders, but once they reached the 60-metre mark, her top-end speed took over. She surged past the field and powered across the finish line to claim the national title.

We knew Tia had the ability to make something special happen. She seized her opportunity and made the most of it.

Congratulations, Tia! What an incredible breakthrough moment. 👏

So grateful for all of the accomplishments I’ve made this year. From basketball, to volleyball, to badminton, to football, to soccer and then track I have made my mark. I’ve been to OFSAA 3 times this year for 3 different sports and in total I’ve been to OFSAA 4 times! I can’t wait to see what’s in store for me next year! by @thy_queentt
