Hey there!
Here’s another #gettoknowme post. The previous one was more of ā€˜who’ am I but this one is more on ā€˜what’ makes me me :)

I'm all heart, a bit shy at first, but a whole lot of fun (or so I think) once you get to know me. I really enjoyed being around people mostly in my 20s but truth be told, I now enjoy my solitude. I genuinely believe that sleep is a luxury especially with the adulting that I do in my day to day life šŸ˜‚
I celebrate my Friday evenings - it mostly involves binging on a pizza or Asian food or Indian food with some good wine or Gin or scotch and a movie - maybe crime thriller action or mindless comedy.
If you ever make a plan with me please make sure it includes coffee and food. I’m so not your impromptu plans kind of a person but you never know what tomorrow holds.
I'm a specialty coffee enthusiast and a die-hard foodie. Pizza, sushi, and Indian cuisine are my ultimate weaknesses, and I've got a massive sweet tooth.

I admire kindness, empathy, and honesty, and believe in the beauty of emotions in a pragmatic world. My mantra is ā€˜actions speak louder than words’ and considering life’s so unprepared short, I leave no stone unturned to express my love to my dear most ones. I’m still working on my expressions and get tongue tied with my words; but someone very important once told me that it seems my words flow like a river. I’ve no space for people who are pessimistic, dwelling in the past, overly critical, negative. I’ve been in unhealthy situations where I was constantly made to feel like I’m always in the wrong, never enough and truth be told I almost let myself believe that I am not good enough. But I was fortunate enough to be surrounded by loving family and friends who showed me the mirror. I realised such people saw me through the lens they see the world and themselves and after a lot of heartache and heartbreaks I stopped taking them seriously and cleansed my heart and life.

In this space, let’s embrace the goodness in people and the joy in simple pleasures together.šŸ¤šŸ«¶šŸ»

Bloom where you’re planted. šŸ¤

"Bloom where you're planted" is a popular phrase that means to make the most of your current situation and be content with where you are in life. I find immense strength and solace in this adage.
Here’s what I interpret from the saying. The phrase encourages people to take advantage of their current circumstances and thrive even in situations that are not ideal. To bloom where you're planted, you should cultivate the right mentality, appreciate the present, and accept changes and setbacks. You should also look for opportunities, take risks, make connections, and work hard. Blooming where you're planted means to grow and flourish despite the circumstances, and that does not mean to survive, it means to thrive and to blossom.

As someone who is always apprehensive of changes, I’ve found myself time and again uprooted from my comfort zone be it on the personal or professional front. It’s not easy, but I guess what helps me survive those changes are an open mind, a gentle approach to the inhibitions and a sense of empathy.

Spring feels like youth. We bloom, we grow, we chase, we become. And then comes autumn. The colours change, some things fall away, and yet the tree isn’t dying. It’s simply becoming something different. Maybe adulthood is a little like that. We outgrow people, places, dreams and even old versions of ourselves. It doesn’t always mean something went wrong. Sometimes, we’re just in a different season. And maybe we don’t have to bloom all year to know we’re growing.

I’ve recently started creating content full time, and one of the things I’m still getting used to is filming outdoors.

Not because I don’t want to do it.

Because somewhere in my head, there’s always this little voice wondering…

ā€œWhat are people going to think?ā€

I’m mindful of not getting in anyone’s way, I choose my spots carefully and I try to be respectful of people going about their day.

But still, I was nervous.

Some people walked past without giving me a second glance. Which is, of course, completely fair. They have places to be. šŸ˜‚

But so many others smiled.
Waved.
Cheered me on.
Gave me the kindest little nods of encouragement.

And this lovely lady in particular completely made my day! 🄹

It reminded me that sometimes we spend so much time worrying about how people will react, when people can surprise us in the nicest ways.

In a world where we can be anything, let’s be kind.

And Stockholm… oh, you have my heart. šŸ¤šŸ‡øšŸ‡Ŗ

If you’ve ever felt self-conscious doing something in public, tell me what it was. I promise you’re not alone.

And if this made you smile, send it to someone who could use a little reminder that kindness still exists.

OFCOURSE full credit to my dearest @rathswapnasarita for the constant motivation, love, kindness and for filming this šŸ¤šŸ«¶šŸ»

Nobody really talks about this part of moving abroad in your 30s.

The loneliness isn’t always about having nobody.

It’s having people you love in another country.
It’s having 200 people on your phone but nobody you can casually call and say, ā€œI’m outside. Come down.ā€
It’s realising that making friends as an adult takes intention in a way it never seemed to before.

Moving abroad teaches you that friendship is no longer just about proximity.

You have to initiate.
Invite.
Show up.
Go to the thing where you know absolutely nobody.
Have the awkward first coffee.
Then another one.
And slowly, very slowly, strangers become familiar faces.
Familiar faces become friends.
And one day, you realise you have people here too.

Maybe that’s what building a new life abroad really looks like.

Not finding your people overnight.
Just showing up long enough for them to find you too. šŸ¤

šŸ’¬ time: If you’re living abroad, moving countries, or starting over somewhere new, what’s been the hardest part for you?

Tell me in the comments. And send this to someone who is building a new life far from home.

Meet Praveen. ā˜•ļø @food_rhapsodies

Of course, I am not going to embarrass myself, and more importantly, him, by writing a proper introduction.

But most of us have come to the conclusion that his middle name is probably Coffee. And honestly, if we ever find out that it actually is, none of us will be surprised. šŸ˜€

The internet knows Praveen for his coffee, his Tiramisu, his food content and his ridiculously good pours. And that is exactly why I follow him too.
Well there are other reasons too that I’ve shared on this poster šŸ¤“
But what the internet doesn’t know is that off social media, this man is hilarious.

Some of the jokes he has cracked are genuinely epic. Very dark. Incredibly funny.

We shall, for reputational reasons, let most of those remain offline. šŸ˜‚

He is also permanently up for an adventure, always shows up for his buddies and is basically the person you want around when you have absolutely no idea what the plan is.

So imagine this:

An Oscar winning actor, voluntarily (also with a lot of ’you have to help me here’!) coming down to perform a very important role in his kid’s school play.

Except the school play is The Apartment Café. And Pim @eatmelicious and I are his buddies not kids šŸ˜‚

And the role?

Making you one ridiculously good pour-over.

Praveen is joining us at The Apartment Café on 18th October, and you get to experience the coffee, the pours and, if you’re lucky, perhaps a completely hilarious joke or two. For selfies we charge šŸ˜‚ (JK)

šŸ“ Farsta Strand • Full address shared after booking.
šŸ“… 18 October 2026
ā° 13:00 onwards

Ticket link already on bio. DM to know more.

So… are you ready?

Because Praveen is. And so are Pim and I.

See you at The Apartment Café. ā˜•ļø

Sometimes I say I miss home.

But if I’m being completely honest…
I don’t always miss the place.
I miss the version of myself that existed there.

I miss knowing exactly where to go for my favourite coffee.
Calling a friend and saying, ā€œI’m outside. Come down.ā€
Dropping by without making plans three weeks ahead.
Knowing which shop had the good bread.
Which friend would pick up at midnight when my nerves were frayed.

I miss being understood without having to explain myself.

And I think that’s what makes moving abroad in your 30s different.

You’re not just leaving a country.
You’re leaving an entire ecosystem of familiarity.

But slowly, you build a new one.

A favourite café.
A person you can call.
Someone who knows your dog.
A restaurant that recognises you.
A table full of people who were strangers a few months ago.

You don’t stop missing home.

You just stop needing the old version of home to feel okay.

šŸ’¬ time: If you’ve moved countries, what’s the one little thing you miss most? Tell me. I have a feeling we’ll relate. šŸ¤

That’s not all, a beautiful pour-over coffee by a coffee superstar awaits… but we’re keeping the suspense alive for now!

Moved countries.
Shut down a 10-year-old business.
Started over from the scratch.

5 things I learnt the hard way in my 30s that made difficult seasons a little easier.

1. Being strong doesn’t mean being unaffected.
2. A bad day is not necessarily a bad life.
3. I don’t have to constantly fix myself.
4. When life feels overwhelming, I stop trying to solve my entire life.
5. Not to ABANDON myself.

I’ve learnt that getting through difficult seasons isn’t always about being stronger.

Sometimes it’s about being gentler with myself.

Because life will change.
Plans will fall apart.
I will outgrow things.
But I will begin again.

But through all of it, I don’t want to become another person I have to recover from.

Happy October guys šŸ¤

Officially in the last quarter of this year. We’ve got this šŸ«¶šŸ»šŸ«‚

Now šŸ’¬ time: What are some lessons you’ve learnt the hard way that makes going through your lows little easier? Share with me. I’d love to hear from you šŸ«¶šŸ»
