Thinking back on the best summer I’ve ever had ⚡️Thank you @prsevens for the unforgettable memories. I’ve been so lucky to experience this place in so many moments both in the stillness and quiet before or after the season, and at its loudest, surrounded by celebration, pride, and support. Big congrats to all of the Wearers of the Green!!

There really is nothing that compares to the Big Green Family, and I’m beyond grateful to experience all of it.

This weekend was truly a special opportunity to celebrate some of its Legacy teams and the incredible families who have helped make this program what it is. So many people, so many stories, and so much love for a place that has connected generations. Extra special to celebrate some of the athletes who I’ve gotten to work with in my professional career as well.

But my favorite part was getting to be here to celebrate my friend. The person who not only started all of this, but continues to be the one who holds so much of it and everyone else together. She’s the first person to take a step back and let everyone else have their moment but this weekend was also a testament to all that you do and have done. A few years later, and I still stand by this statement… @ktdowty, you are the coolest. 💚

There’s nothing quite like being in a room full of people who genuinely love this place and, even more importantly, love each other

30 years ago my sister stepped into Manila Taekwondo and the dojang quickly became home for my family. We had so much love and support for my young parents in helping feed us & raise us. Taekwondo became my entire life and passion for the next 20 years.

Today I was able to confirm what I think we already knew.. still Master Cruz’s favorite after 30 years 🥰😂

Most know the story and the incredible legacy that Manila Taekwondo has left on the community and the sport of taekwondo but for those of us who have bled, sweat and cried every pound, every round and every loss & victory, you know what an absolutely honor it was to be a part of the sea of yellow jackets at every tournament.

Master Cruz was unorthodox. His training was rough, ruthless and meant to test your integrity. There were days he would line us up at the end of training and tell us how we would place at a big tournament. Winner, Loser, only win 2 fights… ruthless lol! But he’d say to prove him wrong if you didn’t agree. That built character. You didn’t leave Manila Taekwondo Soft.

Special days included being put “in the middle”. Where you’d have people coming from in front of you, beside you, behind you. Kicks and pushes from all angles until you couldn’t lift your legs and struggled to breathe… that built resilience and bravery.

Manila taekwondo has prepared me to go out into the world and hold the standard. Leaving a trembling shock everywhere I go and entering every room with a yellow jacket.

Glad that I got to celebrate the end of this era with my sister who inspired most of my career as an athlete and fighter.
