A big thank you to @bayasimons and @ines_cross for telling our story ❤️🙏🏼 “‘We met in Bengaluru last year through a mutual friend. You could call it love at first sight,’ says product buyer Malini Malik (@malinimalik) of her first encounter with Spandana Gopal, founder of design studio Tiipoi (@tiipoi). Within 10 minutes, the pair had bonded over their love of minimalist interiors and functional design, and the idea to start a business together was born. We were thrilled to be brought on board by @dishoom as producers for their very own line of tea towels! We screen-printed 3000 metres of fabric by hand with our partner factory in Tamil Nadu. Made by a women-owned & run production team, these towels are now on their way to the UK and will soon be available at a Dishoom near you 🇬🇧✨ by @tiipoi

"We’re not interested in responding to things like the Pantone Color of the Year. It just doesn’t feel relevant to the work we want to do. The things we make come out of a process that’s very much rooted in a Tiipoi world — a kind of Tiipoi-ness. You start to recognise it instinctively. You can look at an object and feel that it belongs to Tiipoi, even if you can’t immediately explain why. That sixth sense really emerges from process. Every design goes through what we call the Tiipoi test, which helps ensure that decisions aren’t driven by ego — mine or anyone else’s — or by something arbitrary like “let’s paint it this colour.” It’s a way of checking that the work is coming from the right place.
