The Tile Tales zine travelled to Malaysia over this past weekend for the Kuala Lumpur Art Book Fair (@klartbookfair) thanks to our friends @cl44r and @justaayam! We are so pleased to share that our zine sold out 🤍

Thank you to everyone who purchased the zine and appreciated our project! We hope to continue our tile adventures and hopefully expand to new locations across Asia to document, archive and record stories about our shared heritage. by @tilediaries

We will be debuting our documentary and zine, and holding a panel discussion in Hong Kong as part of ZINE YO! FEST

Tile Tales is a self-initiated project that explores tiling traditions across cultures, in Hong Kong and in Pakistan.

The documentary traces the stories of Sajjad Ullah Qureshi, a Sukkur-based tile manufacturer of over 50 years, and Mandy Wong, an urban planner who archives mosaic tiles in Hong Kong. It explores how tiling designs travel across cultures and their continued significance to the urban fabric.

The documentary is in English, Cantonese, and Sindhi, with subtitles in English and Chinese.

Following the screening, there will be a panel discussion moderated by Charis Poon and featuring Fizza Qureshi and Stefan Luk from the Tile Tales team, and Mandy Wong.
