Last week, we took sunrise to new heights with members of our Sony Alpha NYC community—at the top of the @empirestatebldg. 🏙️🌆

Alpha Collective member @timbuz captured these early morning city views with his Sony Alpha 1 II and 70–200mm F2.8 GM OSS II.

10 years ago. Wyoming. Sunrise. My first time on a horse. 🐎

My first @sonyalpha a7S and a 24-70mm. A trip through National Parks. A group of incredibly talented photographers from different backgrounds, brought together by the same passion for photography and storytelling. This was the very first Sony Alpha Collective trip — the start of a community that has grown far beyond what any of us could have imagined.
10 years later, our paths have taken us in so many different directions. I just hope that, wherever those paths have led us, that same passion for creating and telling stories is still burning.
10 years later, I’m still incredibly lucky to be part of it.

Some memories just hit different. ❤️

This #sonykandotrip also marks a pretty incredible milestone for me: 10 years as a @sonyalpha Ambassador. 💙
Back in 2016, I got a call asking if I’d be interested in joining the new Alpha Collective. I wasn’t a big influencer, and I certainly wasn’t an expert at marketing myself… but Sony was looking for a filmmaker to join the group, and some of my peers recommended me because of the quality of my work behind the camera. 📹🖤
At the time, I was mostly known for telling the stories of other photographers for @adorama . Over the years, I came to really embrace that kind of storytelling because I realized just how powerful it can be—giving people a deeper understanding of the person, the process, and the world behind the photos and videos they enjoy every day.
I feel incredibly lucky to have grown as an artist alongside @sonyalpha and @adorama. The culture and community the @sonyalpha team has built is truly special. They’ve created one of the most impactful creative spaces I know—one where you’re encouraged to be yourself, experiment, connect, and grow.
And then there’s Kando.
At Kando, you’re surrounded by some of the most talented creators in the world, but more importantly, by incredible human beings. You connect, collaborate, and build relationships—all while we happen to have cameras in our hands. Many of the people I’ve met through this community have become genuine friends, not just peers or fellow creatives.
This year’s event was another reminder of just how special this community is. Huge shoutout to the incredible @bluepixelcreates team for making it all happen. ❤️
Here are a few of my favorite shots from Kando this year. 📸
I never take this opportunity for granted. Ten years later, I’m still incredibly grateful for every Kando, every connection, and every story I’ve been lucky enough to be a part of.
Here’s to the next chapter. 💙 📸 🎞️ taken in Stowe, Vermont by @timbuz

Sunrise from the Empire State Building is pure magic 🌅 First, that soft blue light hits while the city is still in night mode… and then 🔥 the skyline catches fire.

One of those moments that reminds you why New York never gets old. 📸

Huge thanks to the teams at @empirestatebldg and @weareshadow for the invite 🙌🏻

Shot with my favorite combo: @sonyalpha α1 II + 28–70mm f/2 + 70-200mm f2.8 🖤

Exploring the beauty of football (soccer) through the incredible lens of photographer Sam Robles @samrobles ⚽️ 🙌

We have an amazing brand-new AdoramaTV video out now on YouTube where we share Sam’s journey from the streets of Brazil to photographing the world’s greatest football players.

In the video, Sam also talks about his new project “Football Roots’ where he traveled around the globe documenting children playing football in streets, neighborhoods, and communities across different cultures. Through these images, he captures the universal language of the game and the joy, hope, and connection that football inspires everywhere it is played.

➡️ To watch the full video on YouTube, you can either click the link in our bio or comment the word “LINK” and we’ll automatically DM it to you! 😊

Artistry and identity. For me, expression is the driving force behind continuing on this career path. Because filmmaking is collaborative art, and cinematographers are not in the driver’s seat on a project, how do you ensure that the projects you work on are a reflection of your identity and the energy you want to put into the world?

Finding projects that align with your taste, sensibilities, and message are extremely difficult to find, and even more difficult to be attached to. Of course then as we grow and build a foundation you have to sometimes work on projects simply to continue living a comfortable life, also extremely difficult right now.

Sometimes passion projects and collaborating with your friends is the only way to balance the idea of being “allowed” to express yourself in the way you want, and to cement your identity as an artist.

Here are a few films I shot that I believe align with who I am, and who I want to be as an artist.

Sundown - An exploration of a son adjusting to his father exhibiting late onset dementia. The film asks the audience to consider if we are ourselves, or a collection of our memories. I loved making this film, my 2nd with @kbwhales , really diving into the subtlety of emotion the camera can imbue.

In Your Own Time - Trauma takes many forms, but the healing process is one that isn’t as well exhibited. Physical and mental trauma often happen at once, so could there be a future where the body is able to heal while the mind is simultaneously able to engage in therapy? I found this concept fascinating and loved exploring the two worlds with director @sachaiskra

Scars that Define Us - A regional water crisis forces a daughter to move back home and care for her ailing father. A film about pressure in every sense. The pressure we put on ourselves and the pressure of circumstance are ever-present in this drama by @edward_worthy

New York Rhapsody - A film about this exact top of artistry and identity, and how your life may be split between work and expression. The hustle is always worth the reward of achievement. Directed by @timbuz
