I didn’t expect to be writing this.

It took me 44 years to become a dad. Then I had two kids under two.

I’m 46. Running on no sleep, a lot of coffee, and more self-awareness than I’ve ever had in my life.

Fatherhood has cracked me open in ways I couldn’t have predicted — and if I’m honest, in ways I probably needed.
These are my honest lessons. Unfiltered. Some of them are uncomfortable.

If you’re in it too, as a dad, a partner, a provider… drop your biggest lesson in the comments.

Ready to close the gap between the man you’ve built and the man you actually are? DM me GAP for the details.

If your new here, I’m Tim. I run Tim Cooper Coach and The Men’s Room.

I work with successful men in their late 30s to early 50s who’ve built the career, the income, the life — and still feel like something’s missing.

Not a crisis. Just a quiet disconnect from who they actually are.

We work on things like:
👉🏼 identifying exactly where you traded aliveness for responsibility

👉🏼 closing the gap between who you are and who you were built to be

👉🏼 building your 20% — the fun, freedom and expression that high performers cut first

👉🏼 using The Daily Diagnostic to stay honest with yourself every day

👉🏼 performing at your ceiling without hollowing yourself out

📌 If you want to understand the gap between your results and your fulfilment, and actually close it…follow along. taken in Estelle Manor by @timcoopercoaching

Every car I’ve ever owned has made me money.

Not in the way your accountant would understand. But in the only way that matters at this level.

Rooms.

I’ve sat across from people who charge £50k a day for access. Not because I ran ads at them. Because we both knew the same corner at Silverstone.

You cannot buy that on Meta. I’ve tried. We’ve all tried.

“But Tim, cars depreciate.”

Say it again. I dare you.

That sentence is the loudest thing a small mind has ever said to me. It tells me you’ve never been in a room that a car unlocked. It tells me you’re optimising for the balance sheet and completely blind to the balance of life.

Your LinkedIn Premium depreciates. Your Marriott networking breakfast depreciates. Your entire marketing budget depreciates. The difference is nobody’s calling those out in the comments like they’ve just discovered fire.

Yes, a serious car costs money. Insurance. Tyres. Track days. Maybe £20k a year if you’re doing it properly.

Now tell me what £20k of Google Ads actually gets you.

I’ll wait.

What a car at this level really buys you:

A frame of mind that makes you sharper and more alive on a Tuesday than most men feel on their best day of the year.

An identity signal that filters your world instantly — the right people move toward it, the wrong ones disqualify themselves.

Access to a community of individuals who understand, without a single word of explanation, exactly what it took to get here.

The people calling this a waste of money are the same people wondering why they’re not in the right rooms.

Think about that.

The car wasn’t the cost. The car was the investment. 🏁

Drop the car that changed everything for you below. Year, model, why. 👇🏻 taken in South Leigh, Oxfordshire, United Kingdom by @timcoopercoaching

If we haven’t met….

I’m Tim. I run Tim Cooper Coaching and The Off Switch™.

I work with successful men in their late 30s to early 50s who’ve built the career, the income, the life, but can’t seem to switch off from any of it.

Not burnout. Just the feeling that you’re never fully present anywhere.

We work on things like:
👉🏼 understanding why slowing down makes you feel guilty or restless

👉🏼 breaking the link between your performance and your sense of worth

👉🏼 being present with your family without your head still being at work

👉🏼 recognising the patterns that keep you chasing the next level of success

👉🏼 keeping your ambition without losing yourself or the people you built it all for

📌 If you’re successful on paper but struggling to actually be present in the life you’ve built…follow along. by @timcoopercoaching

There were times in my life when I couldn’t imagine a picture like this.

Now I’m in it, and I’m still learning how to let myself enjoy it.

That’s probably the most honest thing I can say.

Amanda and I went through years of wondering whether we’d ever become parents. This Porsche was a childhood dream I once thought was out of reach.

And here I am, with my little girl beside it.

The smile is real. So is everything I’m working through behind it.

The pressure to provide. The fear that slowing down means everything might stop. The guilt when I’m working because I’m missing my family, then the guilt when I’m with my family because I’m not working.

I can have a good month and immediately worry about the next one. Achieve something I wanted and barely give myself a moment to enjoy it.

I’ve pushed myself until I’ve had nothing left. I’ve gone looking for something new to buy when what I really wanted was some relief.

And sometimes, underneath all that effort, there’s still the question: am I doing enough? Am I enough?

Being a coach doesn’t make me immune to those questions. I have to practise what I ask other men to do, including being honest when an old pattern shows up.

Looking at Faith brings it home.

I spend so much time thinking about the life I want to give her. I also need to pay attention to how much of me she gets along the way.

One day, I want to hand her the keys to this car. I want us to have years of memories in it by then. Days out. Conversations. Ordinary afternoons together.

Those memories need my time and attention now.

I’m proud of what I’ve built. I’m learning to leave work at work, put my phone down and enjoy an afternoon without feeling I have to earn it first.

She’s growing up while I’m figuring this out.

This picture reminds me how much I once hoped for the life I’m already standing in. taken in South Leigh, Oxfordshire, United Kingdom by @timcoopercoaching
