How to build muscle while running long distance. • Nutrition — eat enough to fuel the mileage AND build muscle. Protein, carbs and enough total calories are non-negotiable. I literally feel like I’m constantly eating. • Strength training — drop the volume, turn up the intensity. I’ve been getting more out of 2 hard working sets instead of endless volume. My Workouts went from beeing 1hrs+ to 35-40min of intense work. • Sleep — treat it like it’s your job. Recovery is where the adaptation happens. Try to go to sleep at a specific time and wake up at a specific time. You don’t have to choose between being strong and being a long-distance runner. You just have to learn how to balance the two. As teased around Project Africa there will be a training documentary and a Training program. Until then, message me if you want to know more. #hybridathlete #running #strengthtraining #gym #hyrox by @timhiemer1
100km Knocked out of the Park. In January, on my birthday, I ran my first 30km — around a 6:45 pace — and it felt awful. Fast forward not even a year, and here we are. I used to hate running. Out of all the sports, it was probably my least favorite. But somewhere along the way, I fell in love with it. Can’t wait to see how far this journey goes — because it won’t end here. Some photos and clips from yesterday, including my Whoop stats. I’ve never had more than three yellow days in a row, but this week? Seven. I woke up yesterday thinking I’d finally be back in green — I wasn’t. Just goes to show: data is helpful, but it doesn’t measure mental strength. Get out there and get it done. And sorry for the last slide — had to throw in one picture that isn’t perfectly edited. 🤢 #ultrarunning #100km #runningmotivation #mentalstrength #runnerstory #ultramarathon #endurancerunning #growthmindset #neverstopexploring #runnersofinstagram #uvu #247 #hybridathlete #marathon by @timhiemer1

I didn’t choose this shoe after 20 KM. I tested it for over 2,000 KM. Now it’s time to find out what it can do over 6,000+ KM. Thanks to @mounttocoast and my favorite running shoe ever their C1 Germany → Africa. 100 KM/day. World record attempt. Let’s see where these take me. 🌍 Use code: Tim10 for 10% off your amount to Coast order! #running #runningshoes #marathon #ultrarunner #worldrecord by @timhiemer1
I’m incredibly excited to announce that I’m officially partnering with @mounttocoast Over the last year, I’ve had the chance to try a lot of different shoes from different brands. But honestly, none of them felt quite right for what I’m doing. Then Mount to Coast came in. Their vision, their mindset, the way they communicate as a brand and their products just fit perfectly with what I’m about and where I’m heading. They sent me a bunch of different shoes to test — all of them were absolutely incredible. It felt like the kind of shoes I’ve been looking for: built for long distances, comfortable made to keep moving, and perfectly aligned with what’s ahead. And the communication with the team from day one? Just as important. Straightforward, passionate and completely on the same wavelength. So yes, this feels like a perfect match. 6,000+ km. 100 km days. One mission. Let’s see where these shoes can take me. 🌍🔥 Proud to call @mounttocoast my partner. #ultrarunning #run #runningcommunity #TrailRunning #missionafrica by @timhiemer1
