A fable-like tribute to the decades of displacement and hostility faced by the indigenous

Our new record Public Luxury is out today on @subpop. Our final single "Yellow Sun" is a song for Lebanon, with lyrics inspired by Etel Adnan's poetry, especially "Beirut 1982." The song names the horrors (“phosphorous skies,” “every day an angel explodes”) while also insisting on the possibility of a new day: “The trees grow in every direction / I’m still heavy with love..."

The gorgeous video by Romy Matar (@timiiie ) is a fable-like tribute to the decades of displacement and hostility faced by the indigenous shepherds and rural communities of Palestine and Lebanon since 1948.

OVERLAPPING AT THE SEAMS 🖌️

The new mural by @rhonajack_ and @timiiie has now launched! A mixed-media work, it shows abstract painted shapes layered with pasted misprints provided by local riso-printers @yallariso. Looking at themes of environmental awareness and community connection, the mural is a shared artistic response linking Dundee and Beirut 🌍

This project has been supported by the @britishcouncil’s Momentum Follow-up Fund and is a collaboration between @designdundee, @openclosedundee and @ahlafawda.

ART VOYEURISM / A 12-hour performance
by Romy Matar & Christian Sleiman

January 10 | 9:00 AM – 9:00 PM

Art Voyeurism is a 12-hour live performance by two artists who do not know each other. Christian Sleiman and Romy Matar enter the space as strangers, existing and evolving within a shared environment—using their hands, eyes, and bodies as instruments of improvisation and communication.

The audience is invited to enter at any time, to witness the process, observe the bodies at work, and become a co-creator of the experience.
Your presence completes the circuit.
———
“We, as artists, do not directly interact with the audience, creating a separation in zones.
This distance positions the audience in a double role, both observer and participant, implicating them in the act of looking.
We invite them inside our creative minds, exposing our bodies and movements to the voyeuristic gaze of art enthusiasts and collectors.”

This personal and social experimental mind game raises questions around artistic exposure, authorship, and the brain-fuck within the art market. by @timiiie
