In the 2001 blockbuster Mediacorp sitcom My Genie, Huang Yiliang cemented his legacy in Singapore’s pop culture through these precise numerical codes:

* 54088: Sounds like “Wǒ shì nǐ bàba” (我是你爸爸). It means “I am your father.”

* 5270: Sounds like “Wǒ ài lǎodà” (我爱老大). It translates to “I love you, chief.” This reflected his character’s role as a subordinate genie answering to the head genie played by Fiona Xie.

These puns became overnight catchphrases across households in Singapore.

Today, the 64-year-old former celebrity operates a zi-char stall called Old Fisherman #01-29 at Circuit Road Hawker Centre. He made headlines for his second career as a hawker and for highly publicized public altercations with neighbouring stall owners and customers. by @timneesoccer

Appan Jala Mutton Set
An Appan Jalar Mutton Set (more widely known as a Roti Jala Mutton Set, Roti Kirai, or Jalar Appam) is a classic South East Asian and South Indian dish featuring delicate, lacy net crepes paired with a robust, spiced mutton curry.

The name “Jala” translates directly to “net” or “lace”. The crepe batter is made using flour, eggs, and coconut milk, then swirled into a hot pan using a specialised multi-nozzle dispenser to create its signature web-like pattern. The soft, porous texture makes it the perfect vessel for soaking up thick, savoury mutton gravy. taken in Casuarina Curry by @timneesoccer
