Worked late on a project last night. Felt like college again…burning the midnight oil in the computer lab back when a Zip drive and Kinkos were mission critical. Woke up this morning and learned that When Sleep Won’t Come got some love from Communication Arts. What?!?! Selected for the 2027 Typography Annual. Thank you to this year’s panel of stellar pros for the nod. I’m super excited and grateful. A big thank you to @kteears and @danjstelzer at @newgrowthpress for always approving the best covers. This one went through with zero changes. I’m grateful for all the cool work we’ve done together over the years. Come to Central Oregon and let’s celebrate! Let me get some sleep first…

I’m happy to tell you that this powerful little book hits shelves and ultimately tables today. Congratulations to @iansimkins and thank you for your little black boxes of faithful wisdom. There is too much thoughtless clamor shouting for attention. Thanks for bringing real hope with your quiet messages. May the impact be loud in the best way.

Thank you to AD Curt Diepenhorst at Zondervan for trusting me with this one.

I’m really excited to share this one. Very cool book by @kris10writes for @wildthornreads with AD Peter Lutjen. I couldn’t be happier with the final cover and I just ate a bagel to celebrate. You should do the same!

Out tomorrow from Harper Horizon. The story of Peter Ortiz is incredible. A real life James Bond and hero of WW2. Author @katiessanders is close to the story. Her grandfather was rescued by Peter Ortiz. Very inspiring true story. Such a privilege to get to work on this. Thank you AD Grace Cavalier!

2 recently approved number themed covers for my man Ron Huizinga at Harper Leadership. Wish I could send this post back 8th grade Timmy…drowning in Algebra and wondering aloud if he would ever use math in real life. Here’s your answer little me. Also, you will have to calculate tips sometimes.

I love the challenge of designing a cover with a long title that needs to be prominent. I should say, I love it once I get things figured out. Can be a real battle…and that’s literally the title here, but now I’m stuck in a pun loop that I can’t escape. Anyway this was a lot of fun and I love where it landed. Swipe to the end to see the final. Going to be tricked out on metallic paper with some very cool effects to activate that pearlescent look.

Thank you AD @halie.cotton for another great one!

New work for @uchicagopress and AD Jill Shimabukuro. I enjoyed playing with a sense of scale for these. First cover is approved. Swipe for an outtake and some detail images. Thank you Jill for a great project!

Great project with AD @halie.cotton at Harper Muse (thanks Halie!). First cover is the final. Swipe for some outtakes. The story is about a lookalike who poses as a beloved (and recently deceased) film superstar for a press tour and must come to terms with her own identity. I’ve been told I look like Brad Paisley, so I definitely understand. Look for this one on shelves in May.

I was very excited to work on Jared Diamond’s latest book because I’m a big fan of his book Guns, Germs, and Steel. My brother Isaac said I should read it. He was right. Also, it won the Pulitzer Prize. They were right. This new one has to do with the impact and influence of leaders. Swipe to the end for the final cover. Tell me your favorite.
