So excited to finally be sharing some of this amazing shoot. Easily one of the best experiences of my life, just making movies with my friends. So grateful to @connorjaycolebrook for inviting me to be a part of his amazing idea. Thank you sooooo much to everyone who came out and gave a hand. HUGE shoutout to @cinewourm for being the fucking man/roommate throughout the shoot.

go follow @connorjaycolebrook for more of "trolling" in the future.

A recent high school grad joins a troll farm to undermine the public school system, while his recruiter struggles to escape the corrosive world of professional disinformation that is tearing his home town apart.

Sometimes the simplest setup can be the best.
For this scene, it was about singling out the two characters. Each one owns their own frame. Neither of them dirtys up the other's world. They stare directly at us, taking all our attention. Forcing us to listen to every word, and see every small change in facial expressions. Also, the more they stare into the lens the more unsettling it makes the audience feel (hopefully lol).
For the set up it was simple. Once we got the camera placed where we wanted it, we set up a 2ft 2bank Kino Flo mushroomed in a shower curtain right over the camera. Given the proximity of the light to talent, it gave them this slight bright highlight that got softer as it fell down his face. And given how far the wall was behind him, that same light gave us a slightly underexposed halo effect. To keep the look and feel the same across the story, we laid out a large piece of duvetyne on the floor to kill any bounce from the key light. Then lastly we had another piece of large duvy on a stand to block all the daylight coming in from the hallway behind the camera.
The moto for the lighting of this film was "simple yet effective". We never used more than 2 lights for any scene. Most of the time, outside of this scene, we would just modify what lights were already in the room. We felt that gave us a more grounded feel.

Please remember. Light the way you see fit. What's the best for YOUR film. YOUR story. Some may disagree with me on this but, when it comes to making a film, there is no wrong answer. There is just your answer.

Some awesome test footage and development from a Web series I tried to get off the ground but could never get funded. This stuff has just been sitting in my Google Drive for years. Huge shoutout to @blueclipse20 for the VFX and set designs. If anyone wants to give me money to make this happen I’ll gladly accept 🤞😊 by @timothyrob447
