In the past year, I’ve built a small denim collection. Having considerably wide legs, straight cuts tend to fit skinny on me, so I usually have to go extra wide when it comes to selvedge denim. There’s probably no better time for it either, with denim houses introducing more and more wide-fitting cuts in recent years.

I started with the ONI 222 Secret Denim, which I picked up at @denimio_shop in Yokohama. At 20oz, they’re heavy on paper, but somehow remain one of the most comfortable pairs I own for tropical climates. Shortly after, I picked up the 222 in black, featuring an olive weft and pink selvedge ID.

The next pair I added was the KM0008 by @doublevolante, an independent denim maker based in Okinawa who previously spent a decade making denim at @kapitalglobal. The model references denim from the 1930s and is the straightest cut in my collection.

I then went back to ONI and added the 200 Kase. The 200 is slimmer than the 222, but still considerably wide by denim standards. These were purchased in Jakarta at @denimhouseidn (highly recommended, great prices).

One of my latest additions is the @taigatakahashi Lot. 702. It’s perhaps the pair I gravitate towards most often. Lovely fabric and a beautiful cut.

Lastly, not denim per se, but very much in the same family, is the @samuraijeans Kanoko Aimadara trousers. “Kanoko Aimadara” refers to the in-house-developed 10oz fabric, which features a pattern inspired by the coat of a fawn, blending indigo and brown yarns.

Had the pleasure of visiting Yu Kuniyoshi aka @doublevolante in a quaint Okinawa residential area. He’s been running his denim workshop by himself after working for Kapital for a decade. Picked up his latest creation off the shelf, carefully referencing denim styles from the 1920-30s. Cash only, no shipping, on the spot hemming, a true offline retail experience. He does customs too which take 4-6 months to create. by @timsuen

Nothing matches, but everything belongs. You can tell this place wasn’t designed to impress anyone. It was designed to be lived in, and you feel that the moment you walk through the door.

Roman blinds throughout. We chose them because they don’t try to be the main character here. Delivery for my friends and family in SG just landed.

This is part 3 of @hartcopy and @adidasoriginals. Highest possible quality leather at a sub $200 retail price point, something we achieved with the first BW and a vision @lleumass and I wanted to continue.
