People were spilling out of the pubs trying to catch a glimpse of the FIFA World Cup match

Stopped in Canmore - this was the overnight stop for the crew when I worked on the Rocky Mountaineer. The train would pull up the crossing, we’d jump out and walk down the highway to the hotel. Canmore is so much bigger now than it was back in 2011!!!

Flew from Calgary back to Vancouver

Went window shopping. Spent time with friends - had dinner with Carlea, lunch with Rhonda, dinner with Jacqui, dinner at the Gillnetter with Mark and Laura and Mackenzie and Jacob, birthday cake with Mackenzie and Jacob’s family and hang out with Moose by @tinkblue

Friday July 17th - After a day of sightseeing in Creston we cooled down with a swim in the lake and then a boat ride and another swim.

Saturday July 18th- we spent the day in/on/around the lake.

Swimming, napping, paddle boarding (for Morag)
We had dinner at the local firehall where they were fundraising for equipment. Then back home for a roaring fire.

My last night in Moyie with Colleen and Eddie and Morag. Morag was staying longer but I’m heading back to Vancouver. by @tinkblue

Friday July 17th - Creston BC

Colleen did the driving today, woohoo. I got to sit back and enjoy the scenery.

Started with a little bit of shopping in Creston. I bought a hat and a linen top.

Then we stopped at The Mountain Barn for lunch. The Mountain Barn is known for its donuts and cinnamon buns and pies. The coffee was also pretty good. We all had the “our sandwich”. There’s only one on the menu. It was very good! Ham, turkey, cheese, cucumber, lettuce, butter, honey mustard, mayo and salt and pepper.

People drive for hours to come and get the donuts from The Mountain Barn.

Thursday July 16th - Radium Hot Springs to Moyie, BC

The hot springs were a welcome stop after all the walking and sightseeing. Maybe my blunnies could do with a spa? They’re looking a little dusty.

We stopped at Timmie’s (Tim Hortons) to refuel. And then our last stretch of driving - on to Moyie.

In Moyie we stayed with Colleen and Eddie. “Old” friends of Morag from South Africa. Morag and Colleen were college room mates. They have a lovely house on the lake. by @tinkblue

Thursday July 16th - Sunshine Meadows

After we made it to the top of the chairlift, we did walked the Rock Isle Trail - an “easy” 5km loop down to the lake and back to the gondola. Skipping the chairlift. I think Morag was secretly pleased not to have to ride the chairlift again

A bear had been spotted earlier but all we saw were squirrels 🐿️
