On Friday, July 8, 2016 Boone and I brought home a tiny spotted Beagle who was dumped on a river and had no idea the incredible, all-encompassing life we would lead with her by our side.

And on Friday, June 13, 2025 we held our heart and soul dog’s paw for the last time. I kissed her velvet ears and squished her marshmallow neck fluff. Lupine has been the light of my life for the last 9 years and her love will live within me for the rest of my days.

Lupine taught me many things like what unconditional love looks & feels like, but what I want to remember the most was how she taught me to slow down. Be present. She lived in the moment. Lupine enjoyed sniffing every flower or blade of grass, bathing in the sun, listening to the birds, taking a deep breath while getting pets, going slow on walks, rejoicing when family & friends visited, and watching the busyness go by out front on her perch from the couch.

I will never forget her adventurous spirit and how she came alive in the woods. Lupine was meant to be ours.

I can’t believe I’m writing this. I can’t believe this is real. Lupine didn’t get the long life I had desperately wanted for her. But she did receive a life of full love, connection, and adventure beyond compare.

I have to relearn who I am without Lu as she was so integral to my life. She shaped who I am as an adult and a dog mom. I miss her so much. I love her so much.

2023 recap 🔮 Looking back, this was a pivotal year. I’ve grown more into myself than ever before. I married my best friend and our relationship has felt steadfast and comforting.
