Art + wallpaper to celebrate the places we leave our hearts | Helping architects & interior designers transform walls into memorable spaces

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

When I first started Tiny Giraffe, I drew city maps of the places I left my heart - crisp digital linework printed on fine art cotton rag.

They’ve evolved over the last 10 years… from simple block colours, to integrating hand-painted watercolours and hand lettering, to my popular luxury letterpress gold foil pieces.

They’ve also evolved beyond cities… farms, properties, hiking trails and even night sky constellations. These are maps of the heart!

💛 This commission was a special one - my clients married in Rome and made Brisbane their home. The beautiful twist? Both places are named ‘Palatine Hill’, so we created two map artworks of the city areas at the same scale. Oh, how I love LOVE stories!

💛 We made church and home icons so they could identify the places they left their hearts and selected a gold foil to complement lush 400gsm navy paper.

✨ How they’re made: my digital artwork is sent to a boutique print house right here in Australia. I only work with premium Australian suppliers. They use my file to create a metal diecast mold of the linework and heat stamp the gold into the paper.

✨ Gold foil letterpress is a luxury finish - the end result is a gorgeous, soft matte paper with shiny, reflective linework. The gold is debossed (indented), to create texture and depth.

✨ The die cast mold is costly to setup - the cost for 1 is not dissimilar to the cost of 10, so this type of artwork is great for creating bespoke artwork that can be reproduced many times (perfect art for hotel rooms or as gifts for many).

✨ Once the die is made, it can be used with a variety of foil colours and papers.

If you’ve been thinking about working with me on a bespoke artwork, I’d love to hear from you!

Love,
Kylie + Mr G

So excited to share this! 🍿🎬🌴Nambour Cinema has had a glow up! ✨All thanks to talented interior designer Barbie Payton @onyxstudio.au and her strong vision for the interiors.

This dark, vibrant space features hues of blues, terracottas and sand. Sophisticated, yet humble, the interior design was inspired by the area’s art deco buildings, coupled with the coastal spirit of relaxation and fun.

It was an absolute joy to work with Barbie in creating this bespoke ‘hero’ palm wallpaper and a ‘pinch me!’ moment to see it in real life 😍 We took the opportunity for an early morning swim at Little Cove and then a drive to Nambour to see it. It was packed on this 36 degree scorcher of a day ☀️

My husband Jon loved the wallpaper design! He had seen it evolve on screen over a few weeks. There’s something special about sharing your hard work with someone you love that is extra rewarding. We are so lucky in the construction industry to see physical, tangible results from our work and watch people using and enjoying these spaces!

I’ll be sharing more about the process of how this patterned wallpaper came to life very soon!

A 20th wedding anniversary gift to cherish forever 💕

This was my first time drawing Japan 🇯🇵This is a bespoke hand drawn map of Gifu, with hand painted watercolour background, complete with illustrations for my client’s favourite locations!

Their home and work, plus picnic spots and favourite temples… places that mean so much to them.

It was not my first time working with this client. They are hands down the most beautiful people, cherished friends and long time, multiple TG art collectors who support and promote me every chance they get.

I’m incredibly grateful for them and the opportunity to add this special city to their collection 🥰 They have many special memories here that are now captured forever✨

PS. I’ve never done one of these reveals before! But there’s a first time for everything right? Back when the days were longer and brighter and pink artworks necessitated pink dresses 💕

🤩A shelfie by the talented @_jessicahersch of @liife_architecture

Brisbane 💛 My hometown. Hand drawn linework, printed on fine art paper in gold foil letterpress.

I moved from Toowoomba to Brisbane in 2002 to start university (landscape architecture), made life-long friends, fell in love, bought a home and started Tiny Giraffe. So many treasured life moments have happened to me here!

Brisbane charms me with her endless blue sky days, subtropical plants, balmy breezes, highset timber cottages and laid back lifestyle. When the flame trees and Jacarandas are in bloom, it’s unbelievably beautiful. Oh and Brisbane brunch is next level!

I love you baby Brisbane! You’re growing up real big.

Some places hold entire lifetimes within them 💛

This bespoke farm map was created to celebrate family history, connection to the land and the stories woven through generations. A visual representation of the incredible view just out the window!

After 10 years, creating map artworks is STILL one of the most meaningful parts of my work 🥹

I sometimes get teary about it while I’m drawing and painting… thinking of the family and two young girls who are growing up in this slice of heaven… and transforming meaningful places into a piece they can hold onto forever.

It started with combing through aerial references and stitching images together to get a sense of just how big this property is. Then a zoom call to chat colours, size and art direction. Then colour palette refinement, creating abstract watercolour textures and combining with digital linework. Every layer is carefully considered to capture the spirit of home.

This one was created for Renee and her family✨

Nothing beats your real life - or the places you left your heart - for inspiration 🌿

Inspiration always comes just when I need it.

I spent 2 blissful hours tending a fire for our outdoor hot tub under the stars and while I sat outside watching golden hour light up the landscape, I discovered the colours of gum trees were more varied than I thought.

Up close the new growth had shades of pink and peach, blood red and burgandy, and the leaves held a world of blues and greens. Magic!

I took this inspiration home with me as I started drawing the five murals for Cornubia early learning.

Look a little closer at the beauty when you travel or out on your everyday adventures. It’s waiting to capture your heart.

What could be more important than the very first ‘hello’?

I created this special outdoor entry wall for Cornubia Early Learning as a public welcome and a special moment of belonging.

Each hand lettered “hello” reflects the languages spoken within this community, celebrating identity, culture and connection so that children and families can immediately belong and feel at ease in the space 🥰

It sets the tone for what’s to come throughout the centre and celebrates the natural environment of the area, being so close to beautiful koala reserves.

Thoughtful public art has the power to shape how a place feels — to turn walls into stories, and buildings into environments that people remember forever.

If you’re an architect, designer, or developer creating spaces that deserve more than blank walls, I’d love to collaborate on artwork that becomes part of an immersive, holistic experience.

Reach out to discuss public art, entry features, and large-scale murals for spaces you’d love to transform. I’d love to collaborate!
