Last August, I was commuting in my Lancia because I was waiting on Fiat brake parts from Lithuania and Latvia. This year, I'm commuting in my Lancia purely for the joy and style. After all, internal combustion is the ultimate accessory...

Yeah, this one is really difficult to write. This is the flier from my first Rocky Horror Picture Show. I think it would have been in about 2004 or 2005. I showed up with my girlfriend and a gaggle of friends and had a V drawn on my forehead in bright red lipstick. Pre-show raunchy limericks were recited and "divirginification" rituals were performed. I paid $1 for a paper bag of props that came with a lap dance.

Rocky Horror was the first place I ever felt truly free to just be whoever I was. And am. Tim Curry brought me into a world where everything insane was perfect. "Don't dream it, be it" became one of those "things" in my life, a north star that has guided me over and over. I wouldn't be me with out Dr. Frankenfurter showing me the way. 20-some years later, I still religiously attend and scream saucy call-backs every Halloween.

I will be forever grateful that my existence in the universe was at the same time as his. by @tinyscorpion44

It was so good to be back at the Freezeout Hillclimb after a few years away! There is nothing quite like the rush of pointing your car at the sky (extremely smokey this year, rather than blue) and playing chicken with the corner, it loads you with adrenaline like nothing else. Then when you come flying through the cut at the top and throw out the anchor, it all hits you like a train and feels absolutely incredible. No idea how fast I went since I sure as hell am not looking at the speedometer (I'd ballpark 75 or 80 through the finish) but I do know my last run was a new personal best of 1:53.140. Certainly not among the fast people, but I'm just happy to finish in one piece as there were a lot of mechanicals this year.

Now, I'm no expert on foundries and I'm only kinda-sorta an expert in Fiat history, inasmuch as that's a thing one can be, but I suspect that men were not casting parts without pants on a century ago. I've heard "never fry bacon naked," but I would think "never cast a block with your cock out" is really taking that to the logical conclusion. Sparks go places, hair catches fire, next thing you know you're in a Fiat health center (totally a thing) explaining why you have second degree burns in the worst possible place. Your wife is angry. Your gay lover you met at the naked foundry is a little turned on in a way that wouldn't be fully explored until Depeche Mode got slutty.

Yet another old book has arrived, this time from way back in 1951, and looking mind-bogglingly plain. I swear the paper for the dust jacket has the same tactile quality as the brown paper we used to wrap our text books in back in the day. The important stuff is inside though, and it's written so charmingly, it reads like novel but with an industrial bent to it. Needless to say, I love it!

Wandered down to Utah with Robby to see Soft Cell, Alison Moyet and The Human League. I've been a Soft Cell/Marc Almond girl for more years than I care to think about, in fact I was thinking about this at the show. In my early 20s, I used to enjoy sitting in a dark, generally awful little Cap Hill apartment looking out over a pre-gentrified Colfax (for those not from Denver, think liquor stores, dive bars, hookers, and general filth) while listening to my slightly warped secondhand promo copy of Non-Stop Erotic Cabaret. It felt slightly surreal to be 38 and sitting in the sunshine while enjoying some of those songs.
The venue was a shit show to get into (ever tried hiking down a steep rocky path in goth boots only to guess which looong line to stand in?) but once we were in, it was a nice little place with really good sound. by @tinyscorpion44

Another thing has arrived from the afternoon when I was dangerously unsupervised on Ebay. One of the great joys of a subject as vast as Fiat is there's always new things to discover. Such as finding out that in the mid-60's Horst Baumann shot Mirafiori with bisexual lighting, before that was even a thing. Regardless, this is arguably the most Andrea-coded set of photos ever taken.

I happened to be on Ebay a week ago when I found a small stash of what looked to be some sort of Lancia corporate magazines, much like the couple copies of Illustrato Fiat I've aquired. They were listed cheap, so I hit buy it now and waited for a bubble envelope to arrive. What showed up was a box of 14 heavyweight Lancia magazines, plus a few duplicate copies. Needless to say, I am a very happy girl!
