We see you studying hard for Finals and we understand that you may need to order food to fuel you through long library sessions. 📚💥

Please note that food deliveries are not allowed inside the library. Out of respect for our staff, your delivery driver, and fellow students, please meet your driver on the Tisch patio.

Visible mending is repairing your clothes, and it is so much more- it is care, slowing down, gratitude, creative expression, autonomy, fashion, sustainability, fun, intentional, relaxing, and hopeful!

In this workshop, you will learn to mend your clothes using darning, a woven fabric patching technique that can be used to repair holes and reinforce fabrics to revitalize your well-loved garments and celebrate the act of repair.

Join us in Tisch Library’s DSDI Hub (room 224) on Friday, October 16 from 3:30-5:00 pm.

Please bring a garment you would like to mend, such as a threadbare sock or a hole-y t-shirt. Mending supplies (sewing needles, yarn/thread) will be provided. If you don't have any items to mend at the moment, some practice items from the SMFA clothing swap locker will be available. All experience levels welcome! by @tischlibrary

Wednesday, October 14, 2-3pm in the Digital Design Studio, third floor of Tisch library. Drawing with AI: Using drawing to understand how machines learn
In this brief workshop we’ll use drawing as a way to understand what computer vision is and how it works. We’ll also discuss its ubiquity in current technology and the ways bias becomes calcified throughout these systems. Attendees will leave with some silly drawings and an introductory understanding of GAN and LoRA techniques as well as resources to continue exploring topics like data coloniality and small image generation workflows. This workshop is geared towards those less familiar with machine learning techniques but all levels of experience are welcome!

About this event
This workshop is part of the series A Tool is an Extension of the Hand: Exploring Technology through Drawing. The series, along with the physical exhibit on the 3rd floor of Tisch library, uses drawing as a starting point to learn about and reflect on technology. This workshop series is a collaboration between the Digital Design Studio at Tisch library and the Center for Engineering Education and Outreach. Our goal is to find ways to engage students at the intersection of engineering and creative multimedia methods. Have an idea for a workshop or event? Join us as we kick off the start of LGBTQ+ History Month with zine-making and oral history interviews led by librarians Gabby Womack and Joanna Gray. As queer history faces near-constant erasure, it is important to preserve our collective memories and experiences. These types of storytelling are liberating practices that remind us that we all matter and are worth remembering. by @tischlibrary

Who shapes U.S. foreign policy in practice? How should power over war, peace, and America’s role in the world be divided among Congress, the president, the courts, and the national security state?

Explore these questions at our conference book display at @tischlibrary, located in the hallway toward the Tower Café. Organized in collaboration with @ginnlibrary, the display brings together books by @tuftsuniversity faculty and conference speakers, offering a wide range of perspectives on presidential authority, congressional oversight, war powers, and America’s role in the world.

Stop by to browse the books and explore our conference reading list, which includes articles, legal materials, and an extended bibliography for anyone interested in digging deeper.

Then join us on campus on September 24–25, 2026, for the U.S. Foreign Policy and the Separation of Powers conference. Scholars, practitioners, and public commentators will examine the balance of authority among Congress, the presidency, the courts, and the national security apparatus, considering how foreign policy decisions intersect with constitutional principles and democratic accountability.

Many thanks to Ellen McDonald, Martha Kelehan, and the Ginn Library and Tisch Library teams for making this pop-up library possible! Visit the conference website linked in the bio for the agenda, speaker lineup, and registration, and bring your questions to the conversation. #tufts #cevihe #foreignpolicy #books #library taken in Tufts University by @tischlibrary
