What an amazing experience I’ve had over the past week! 🥊🇦🇪

Travelling over to Rivals Gym in Dubai to share my experiences, knowledge and philosophies on coaching, while helping to develop the coaching team over here, has been an incredible opportunity.

A massive thank you to Sam and Scott for having the trust and belief in me to send me over here. I’m forever grateful to both of them for putting me in the position I’m in today and allowing me to play a part in growing and developing Rivals Gym as a whole.

Who would’ve thought all those years ago, when I first walked through the doors of our very first gym in Newmains, that we’d be where we are today?

This week has been truly eye-opening and has given me a real appreciation of just how far Rivals Gym has come over the years. From that first gym in Newmains to now having a Rivals Gym in Dubai, it’s some journey!

I’m looking forward to getting back home with loads of ideas, knowledge and experience to bring back and share with the team in Scotland, and to continue our own growth and development together.

Massive thanks to everyone over here for making me feel so welcome. It’s been an absolute pleasure.

I’ll see everyone when I’m back in the gym! 🥊💙 taken in Dubai, United Arab Emirates by @titletaker1

WE’RE IN @rivalsgym_dubai TODAY… & WHAT A SURREAL MOMENT! 🇦🇪🔥

Jordan first started with us at just 11 years old, and it’s been some journey ever since! 🥊

He came through our doors as a quiet, shy young lad and over the years we watched him develop incredible confidence, resilience and belief in himself.

We threw him into title bout after title bout because we knew the ability was there. All he needed to do was keep putting in the graft, keep showing up and keep believing.

And believe he did. 🏆

Along the way, Jordan came through our leadership pathway!! something that has grown massively since those early days then eventually became the first full-time coach we employed under the Rivals banner.

Fast forward to today…

He’s gone on to run and own his very own facilities, building his own journey and helping others transform their lives through martial arts.

And now we’re out here in Dubai together, working alongside our world-class team out here with coach @aa._dxb whilst levelling up Rivals on every front. 🔥

Myself and Scott are so proud 🤩

TOGETHER EVERYONE ACHIEVES MORE & A rising tide lifts all ships. 🥊

But remember…

Every journey starts with that first step.

Very proud of Amelia, she absolutely smashed another grading in @rivalsgym_uddingston 💪❤️

For a father in this world it’s very important to me that my children are able to defend themselves, walk with confidence in their steps and know how to conduct themselves. 👊

Does she want to go to every single session, no.
Then why do I make her go? So she understands proper discipline, respect, confidence whilst building some great resilience along the way. 🙌

Doing hard stuff now for an easy life later at such a young age only sets her up for success in anything she chooses to do later in life. 🙏

Very proud of you beautiful 💕 by @titletaker1

There’s nae rest for the wicked…

And apparently nae rest for us either 😂

What a few weeks.

We’ve just come off the back of another unbelievable KNOCKOUT THE STIGMA and sometimes you need to actually stop for a minute and realise what’s been achieved.

Eight years ago this was just an idea.

A fight night to bring people together, get people talking about mental health and hopefully make a wee difference.

Fast forward eight years…

❤️ £73,340 RAISED.

That’s mental.

And this year alone, Knockout the Stigma 8 raised £6,556 for Chris’s House. 🖤💛

Every fighter, coach, volunteer, sponsor, ticket buyer, donation and person who shared a post played a part in that.

That’s what Rivals is all about 👇

COMMUNITY!!!

The fights are brilliant and the atmosphere is always unreal, but the reason behind the event is much bigger.

If one person sees what we’re doing, checks in on their pal, speaks up when they’re struggling or asks for help when they need it…

Then every bit of work is worth it. ❤️

To everyone who has supported Knockout the Stigma over the last eight years
THANK YOU. 🙏🏻

£73,340.

How good is that?!

And now…

Nae sitting about 😂

THE BIGGEST MISCONCEPTION ABOUT MARTIAL ARTS 🥊

That everyone who walks through our doors wants to fight…

They don’t.

In fact, probably 95% of our members will NEVER compete.

And it’s simple really, martial arts is about so much more than fighting.

It’s about respect.
Self-belief.
Confidence.
Courage.
Discipline.

It’s about becoming more comfortable in yourself, learning how to handle difficult situations and developing skills that carry into everyday life.

Not everyone needs to become a fighter.

But everyone can become a stronger, more confident version of themselves. 🥊❤️

That’s what martial arts is really about.

With that being said!! “It is better to be a warrior in a garden than a gardener in a war.” by @titletaker1
