This is Caesar…
Eleven years with the goofiest, silliest, mischievous, old man. He was a distinguished old chap, who loved Kerrygold butter, chasing after a skunk, and cuddles after a couch…in that order, sometimes. Doesn’t seem like enough.
It’s hard to put into words how incredible this old man was. If you ever met him, you knew his calm and steady manner, his steady wag, and even though he didn’t have open arms, you felt them give you a big ole hug.
I hope you’re enjoying buckets full of Kerrygold, Bubba. We’ll miss you always. by @tk_shields

26 Revolutions Around the Sun?? Crazy…

This year has been such a growth opportunity. High and lows that tested my resolve, but I frankly wouldn’t have it any other way. I took myself to concerts by myself, flights by myself, solo dates galore, and safe to say I learned how to LIVE again. In the season of giving thanks…
This past Friday, my Mom and I received the news that my Opa, her Vati, passed away in his sleep at 87. The past few months had been quite trying for him, but we both thought we’d be able to see him one last time before Christmas came. I adored going home to Germany, seeing family, but most importantly seeing this enigma of a man. He wasn’t a flowery man, and he didn’t necessarily love pictures, as this was the last one we took together when I was 19. I’ll always see him like this. A strong, quiet man who had VERY strong opinions 😂A refugee of WW2, he built a wonderful life with his family, raising the kindest and most powerful mother I am so thankful to have. He made the best cakes, played the accordion, and was an uber talented carpenter. Everything in his house was crafted by his hand. Suffice to say, I’m so thankful I was able to have him in my life for the past 24 years. I wish I would have spoken with him fluently, that was my goal for the next time I spent with him. One last conversation where I tried my best to speak his mother language. But I know even if I never get to speak to him again in person, he’ll always lend his ear to me in spirit. I’m thankful for the edge he instilled in me to be my own person, unapologetically. Because that was Opa. Unapologetically himself. And I will love and miss him until the end of my days. by @tk_shields
