I refuse to let AI to create content for my brand and hereā€™s why. I recently ran a customer survey with 100 of our most frequently bought customers. The results came back saying two of the top 5 reasons they choose to buy from us than anyone else is because of founder heritage and authenticity. And when I asked what they would like continue seeing from us, several mentioned ā€œhonestyā€, actually to be more specific ā€œhonesty in a world which promotes a lot of dishonestyā€ Thatā€™s why I still write everything myself, every week, every email, every line on the website comes from me as a founder and not an AI agent that I fed data into to give me the best answers. Nobody tells you that the hardest part of starting a business is writing apology emails to customers while you canā€™t stop crying. We started with ā‚¬11K. Lost an entire product batch at customs due to a single incorrect number on an import document. Absorbed the penalty fees. Refunded every pre-order. Manufactured again from scratch. At our lowest point, two angel investors sent us a term sheet then disappeared. Two sentences. Just before Christmas. I lost weight during this period. I questioned everything. Weā€™re in a much better place now. But I want to be honest about what it actually cost, because the version of entrepreneurship that gets shared online skips this part entirely. Tobi LuĢˆtke said the cost of success is rarely cash. Itā€™s the dedication of time and the willingness to withstand discomfort. For me it was the crippling anxiety, the betrayal of trust, the self-doubt, and full responsibility for everything that went wrong. Still worth it. It isnā€™t always pretty, but itā€™s real Weā€™re also leaning heavily into our roots.
