When my mental health was at it's worst, I had a therapist who would give me rocks with words on them whenever I had a good week, session, etc. It was such a small gesture but it became so important. Even my college roomie (now bestie) got in on giving me rocks.

It's been years since I've needed a hospital or outpatient program, but I'll never forget the people who helped me get here. I saw this rock while camping with my bestie's family and just knew it was the universe telling me that times may get hard, but they always get better.

If you're reading this, I'm glad you're here and I hope you'll stay as long as you can. The world needs you in it.

Got invited to go camping with the bestie's family. This is what I mean when I say "Sometimes friends become family." I've known them for 22 years. Everything that's happened since then has been with my bestie's support and I couldn't thank her family more for making her so amazing.

Because of them, I have 5 "extra" nieces and nephews. I get to go on trips, help them move, go to birthdays, school plays, and soccer games. I got to go camping for 3 days with the most amazing people (and my nemesis - her brother) and loved feeling like just another auntie in the mix. This was our "backyard" for the weekend.

I needed this.

Growing up, Dad wasn't good at sports. He didn't build snowmen with us. He'd play basketball, but only shoot because he couldn't dribble. Couldn't set up our tent.

But... Whenever there was an arcade, we'd search out any pinball machines and skeeball. We'd play both for hours. Dad taught me how to never miss the ball on pinball. He taught me slower was better for skeeball. We'd constantly get high scores.

Just over 18 years ago, I became an Auntie. This week, I've watched my baby boy finish out his Senior year of high school. I'm not a wordsmith, so I can't even tell you how much I appreciate the universe giving me the honor of being this amazing person's Auntie.

All I can say is, I've watched this tiny little bundle I held so carefully in our family house 18 years ago become such an amazing young adult and I am so proud of how much work he puts into everything he does. He's accomplished so much in 18 years, and I hope he's so proud of himself.

He'll always be my first baby. And I'm so glad he's mine.

About twenty or so years ago, me and bestie went to a poster sale at our college. I got me some posters, she got one or two, and I picked this out for our bathroom because I thought it was hysterical.

After college, bestie brought it home. When she got her own bathroom, she hung it up.

Today, the bathroom ducks came down after decades of bathroom giggles.

RIP bathroom ducks.

At the vet and the kennel, he's got a rep as a bad boy. He hisses and swipes, and even I need gloves to handle him.
At home, he's a serial cuddler. I do my therapy on the computer, and my therapist can't imagine him being moody.
I think I'm gonna take video of him as a cuddler and show the peeps at the kennel.

Meet my new "butt"-y. (No name yet)

This glorious piece of art is now hanging in MY apartment!! (I think it may need to shimmy down a bit, but we'll see.)

When I was born, Mom's coworkers gave her this blanket for me. My nursery was green and our friend (last name Shea - yes that's where the cat gets his name) had to go to the house to finish painting it because I was so early.
Almost 40 years later, Mom calls me to clean out my boxes. I was delighted to see this blanket. The backyard picnics it saw with Teddy. The times I'd lay in my childhood unicorn room and just feel the fabric. Wrapping it around me to watch TV because we finally got AC and Dad had it on blast.
This blanket has seen it all. I'm so glad it's back. by @tlilynshea
