✨ Russian Fireworks — what an ELECTRIFYING and thrilling evening with the Texas Medical Center Orchestra! ✨

Still on cloud nine from our amazing concert… What a way to wrap up our 26th season!

From the dazzling opening of Glinka’s Overture to Ruslan and Lyudmila to the monumental ending of Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition — this concert was one giant WOW from beginning to end.

Our phenomenal soloist, pianist Diego Caetano delivered a breathtaking performance of Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 3, bringing extraordinary depth, poetry, and emotional intensity to the stage. His incredible talent, passion, and fearless brilliance mesmerized our audience and moved many to tears. 🎹

After intermission, the orchestra performed Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition, accompanied by a stunning live photography specially curated by Anne Massoni and the Houston Center for Photography. The combination of music and imagery created an immersive and deeply moving experience that transformed the concert hall into a living gallery of sound and visual storytelling.

My dear musicians of the Texas Medical Center Orchestra played with incredible passion, power, and heart throughout the evening, and the energy from our wonderful audience made the night feel truly magical. 💙

Closing our 26th season in this way felt both emotional and deeply fulfilling. From the thunderous excitement of Rachmaninoff and Mussorgsky to the beauty of artistic collaboration, visual storytelling, and the young Pilgrim Academy musicians of our Zinn Educational Program performing in the lobby before the concert, this evening was a celebration of everything that makes live music so powerful and meaningful — reminding us why music truly is “Just the Right Medicine.”

Thank you to everyone who joined us and made this evening truly UNFORGETTABLE! ✨

First rehearsal and phew, this is not easy stuff…The simplicity of it is revealed through continuous practice, part of the fun of preparation, the tight rope of live performance. It is what the endlessly dynamic Maestra @lebellibi , the @tmcorchestra and I are bringing gratefully together with the Brentano Lieder song cycle Op. 68 by Richard Strauss.

Mahler’s 4th Symphony will be closing the program, its transparency and straightforwardness always feels a little scary to me. A leap of faith, opening the heart to the depth of wonder infused within.
