In #janetjackson history, on September 20th 2006 Janet released her 9th album and what would turn out to be her last album with Virgin records. #jimmyjamandterrylewis joined up again with Janet along with Jermaine Dupri. Lroc,The Avila Brothers,No I.D. and Manuel Seal also joined in the mix. This album was to celebrate 20 years of making music since her groundbreaking album Control. The album reached number 2 on Billboard 200 albums chart and was certified platinum. Janet would have several different album covers for the project all designed by the fans in a contest in which she picked what she liked. I wish this era had been longer but it was, what is was back then. “Enjoy”will always be a favorite of mine off of this album. #legendary #janfam #dance by @tmtm69

10 years ago this week @th0mas_anthony and I would go on our 1st Disney trip together. That turned into going almost every single year since then. I’ve had some of the best times there and so much fun with you Tommy. Especially our 2019 trip that will always be my favorite. Here’s to many more trips to that most magical place on earth. #disney #disneytrips #disneyworld #bestfriends by @tmtm69

Chaka and Peter Cetera talking about the time when she blew out the mic recording their duet. Then flowing after that Chaka now singing her big hit “Through The Fire”standing about 10 feet’s away from the mic lol. This was no surprise to me to see this from Chaka. At 73 years old she is STILL doing it! I’m so happy to see this video has given her some attention especially from the younger crowd. If you didn’t know who Chaka was you do now. By the way she has a new album coming out in September. 43 years in as a Chaka fan and I will never stop being one. #legendary #chakakhan #vocals #singers #queenoffunk @chakakhan by @tmtm69

Today in #janetjackson history. 40 years ago today, When I Think Of You is released as the 3rd single from Control. Produced by Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis and co-produced by Janet. She also is credited as a writer on the song with Jimmy and Terry and also plays keyboards on the song. This would be Janet’s 1st number 1 Billboard Hot 100 song ever. The video was choreographed by @paulaabdul and shot in sequence. Which meant they did the hard parts first most likely, and then in editing it was all placed together in order for the song. This was a departure from the sassy attitude Janet was giving from the first two singles and more playful. #control40 #janet #legendary #jimmyjamandterrylewis @janetjackson @flytetymejam @officialjamandlewis by @tmtm69

10 years ago we lost Prince. An artist that that will live on forever. So many want to compare artists to him, but you truly either have had to have been there or done your homework really well about him to do that. The musician he was, the sound he created, all the songs he wrote, the artists he brought forth, the boundaries he pushed especially for artists. RIP Prince, you are so missed . #prince #legendary #10yearsgone #musicalgenius #ripprince by @tmtm69

Today in #janetjackson history. Nasty is released as the 2nd single from Janet’s landmark album Control. The song would reach #3 on the billboard hot 100 chart. The song written by Jimmy Jam, Terry Lewis and Janet herself was produced by Jam and Lewis and co-produced by Janet. The sound of Nasty is incredible and would shape Janet’s musical style for a while. Mainly everything you hear on the song is all percussion sounds tuned very slowly. The video was choreographed by Paula Abdul and won an MTV award for Best choreography. “No my first name ain’t baby, it’s Janet, Ms.Jackson if your Nasty” became a very popular line that people still say to this day. #legendary #janet #janfam @flytetymejam @officialjamandlewis @janetjackson by @tmtm69

#control40 Today in #janetjackson history. 40 years ago today Janet Jackson released her landmark album Control. This album would change the trajectory of Janet‘s career drastically. Produced by Jimmy jam and Terry, Lewis and co- produced by Janet herself. The album was a major departure from her previous two albums, artistically and musically. The album would dominate the charts for most of 1986 and received a Grammy nomination for album of the year. The music was so cutting edge at the time. When you heard Nasty on pop radio, you checked your radio station to see if you were listening to an R&B station (at least I did). The sound of control definitely pushed the envelope further and opened the door for other artists to go through. The music videos were a whole other story. Janet along with Paula Abdul (Paula choreographed four videos for the control album ) took dance in music videos to another level. This was the start of Janet taking control of her career. Such an amazing time. #legendary #janfam #dance @janetjackson @flytetymejam @officialjamandlewis by @tmtm69
